The results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections shocked the entire country. BJP, which appeared above 300 in most of the exit polls, could win only 240 seats. After this he formed the government with the support of other NDA parties including TDP and JDU. But the most shocking result in this Lok Sabha election was of Faizabad Lok Sabha seat.
People wondered why BJP got this result even after the centuries-old wish of Hindus for Ram temple was fulfilled. Many types of analyzes were presented regarding this defeat. This seat, now commonly known as Ayodhya, was lost by BJP to Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad. No one knew Awadhesh Prasad in Delhi politics before this. This victory increased Awadhesh’s stature manifold. Awadhesh Prasad is not a new leader.
Before becoming MP, he was MLA from Milkipur reserved assembly seat of Ayodhya district. When Awadhesh Prasad reached Parliament, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav presented him like a trophy. BJP has now got a chance to settle the score of this defeat.
The election was stuck due to legal issues
By-election will be held on Milkipur assembly seat vacated by the victory of Awadhesh Prasad in February 2025. Till now this by-election was pending due to a legal issue. The BJP candidate had filed a petition against the victory of Awadhesh Prasad in the Assembly on this seat, he said this Back Had taken. After this, by-elections have now been announced.
The BJP alliance had recently won 7 out of 9 seats in the Uttar Pradesh by-elections held along with the Haryana and Jharkhand assembly elections. After this, BJP’s enthusiasm is high and it is claiming to win Milkipur also. Milkipur by-election has become high profile.
Voting will take place here on February 5, 2025 while the results will be declared on February 8. Samajwadi Party had announced to give ticket to Awadhesh Prasad’s son Ajit Prasad on this seat much before the election dates. BJP has just won this seat candidate Has not given. There are speculations that BJP will announce the name here after Makar Sankranti.
BJP will announce its candidate soon
Many people including Baba Gorakhnath, Ramu Priyadarshi, Chandrabhan Paswan are in the line from BJP. Baba Gorakhnath was the MLA from here in 2017 and in 2022 he was defeated by Awadhesh Prasad. His claim is also strong regarding the ticket. Apart from him, another former BJP MLA and a big face of the organization Ramu Priyadarshi is also in the fray.
Apart from these two, many others including Chandrabhan Paswan, Chandrakesh Paswan are also in the line. A decision on this is expected soon. Only after this, a decision will be taken on which way the elections will go. Milkipur is a Dalit dominated seat and is also reserved. In such a situation, BJP also wants to decide the candidate only after taking stock of everything on the ground.
Local journalist Nitesh Singh says, “Baba Gorakhnath’s base is already formed but there is some opposition to him from within. However, his claim cannot be denied. Apart from this, Ramu Priyadarshi is meeting all the benchmarks. Right now it is very difficult to tell who the party will choose.”
The seat is Dalit dominated but the deciding vote belongs to the upper castes.
About 1.2 lakh voters in Milkipur Assembly Dalit Are. Among these, the maximum votes come from people of Pasi community. Awadhesh Prasad comes from Pasi community. Apart from Dalit voters, Brahmins, Thakurs and other upper caste voters are also there in large numbers here. His total votes are also around 1 lakh. Muslim vote here is 30,000.
SP is trying to win here only with the alliance of Muslim and Dalit votes. Before this, Awadhesh Prasad had also been winning under the same formula. The upper castes have also been giving them some support. But this time the matter is different. Local people say that the hold that Awadhesh Prasad has on the land is not that of his son Ajit Prasad.
Ajit Prasad has even lost the District Panchayat elections. Journalist Nitesh Singh says, “Ajit Prasad does not have the humility that Avadhesh Prasad had. He is busy campaigning but the internal fighting in SP can harm him. However, he has the direct blessings of Akhilesh Yadav.”
Since all the candidates are from Dalit community, who the upper castes support can become the X factor in the elections. Election analysts say that in 2017 Baba Gorakhnath had the support of the upper castes but in 2022 this support went to Avadhesh Prasad. In such a situation, their vote can be decisive.
Analysts say that the decision regarding where the votes of the upper castes will go will be taken after the name of the BJP candidate is revealed. He also says that here the upper castes want a different face from BJP, after this he is completely ready to support it.
BJP has won Milkipur twice
Milkipur is an assembly seat on which BJP, BSP, SP and Communist Party have all won in the last three decades. However, in the last 10 assembly elections and by-elections, SP has won this seat 6 times. BJP here in 2017, 1991 while BSP in 2007 election Had won. However, now the direct fight here is between BJP and SP only. In the 2017 assembly elections, Baba Gorakhnath defeated Awadhesh Prasad by a margin of 28000 votes. He lost in the 2022 assembly elections by about 13000 votes. This time he is again in the fray to get the ticket.
From minister to organization, BJP exerted its strength
BJP wants to avenge the defeat in Faizabad Lok Sabha seat by winning this seat. This revenge also becomes important because in front of him is the son of the same Awadhesh Prasad who had defeated him. BJP has no core for this election kasar Don’t want to leave. He has appointed 6 of his ministers here.
Apart from this, people from the state president to the regional president and other organizations are also involved. He is setting the atmosphere by meeting the heads of every village, VDC, Nagar Panchayat representatives and influential people. Even people’s problems are being collected and solved there.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also has direct interference in the elections. He has also held a meeting with BJP officials here. He has also visited here in the last few months. After the announcement of the candidate, there are speculations that Chief Minister Yogi’s rally will also be organized here.
BJP is continuously strengthening its organization to collect votes from every village in the elections. Its workers are going to the villages. As soon as the candidate is declared, public relations will also be started rapidly. By winning this seat, BJP wants to make up for the defeat in Ayodhya.
