Ramesh and his family were also trapped in the stampede of Sangam. Ramesh says that ‘We reached Sangam Ghat at 12:30 pm. They started resting there. Then the policemen brought loudspeakers and started saying, “Take a bath.”

‘There was a stampede during this time. We were buried in the crowd for 15 minutes. I held my mother’s hand, but he was left out in a while. The wife also got separated. After what I saw, I called home that everyone is over.

Ramesh’s luck was good that he got the right mother and wife in the hospital. According to the administration, 30 people were killed in this stampede, although according to Bhaskar reporters, this figure is 35-40.

Like Sangam, there was a stampede in Sector-21. The situation here was worse than the confluence. Bhaskar’s team went to both places and understood the reason for the stampede. Talking to people, these 4 reasons were understood.

1. The crowd moved from all sides towards Sangam Most of the devotees wanted to reach Sangam for the Amrit bath on Mauni Amavasya. Due to the huge crowd, all the night shelters, dharamshalas, hotels in Prayagraj and the fair became full. People started sleeping on the streets.

If there was no place on the roads, then people reached the banks of the confluence. Half of this is reserved for the akhadas. Common people could not go there. The crowd gathered at the place fixed for the common people. People coming from Chungi and Gau Ghat were also reaching towards Sangam. At the confluence, the crowd stopped moving forward, but people kept coming from behind. This made the 500 meter area choke.

The second incident of stampede took place in Sector-21, about one km from the confluence. It is adjacent to the prime area Sector-20 after the confluence. Sector-20 has all the major arena. So there is more crowd here. The crowd gathered here wanted to go towards the Sangam. The police was to walk about 7 km on the route from which the police was sending them.

2. Administration and police could not manage mob The fair administration had claimed that 328 AI cameras have been installed for crowd management. These cameras will keep alerting the head by counting the head. The crowd was increasing in the Sangam, but it was not diverted.

All the pantoon bridges were closed. Due to this, people who had to go to the Kalpavasis or the ashram of their pandas could not go on the other side. Therefore, there was a crowd of crowd at the confluence. The administration could not handle it. Around 1000 policemen were stationed in the Sangam area at that time.

On January 29 in Prayagraj Mahakumbh, about 7 crore people took a dip in the Sangam. The administration bathed 1 crore 28 lakh people in just 2 hours.

3. Police wanted to remove people, this created a stampede situation According to the people present at the time of the incident, the policemen were announcing the mike and asking people to bathe. People were talking about bathing in Brahma Muhurta from three o’clock. The police forcibly started raising people. This created a stampede situation.

4. Rumor of Naga sadhus coming for bathing People present at the confluence said that the rumor spread amidst the huge crowd that Naga Sadhu was coming to bathe. Therefore, those who are sitting or lying away, move away. After this, there was chaos and people were buried. However, the reason behind the incident is being investigated.

50 ambulances reached Sangam after stampede The Central Hospital, about one and a half km from Sangam, is the largest hospital in Mahakumbh area. There are 225 beds here. There was a staff of about 50 people here during the stampede. There are three more hospitals of 25–25 beds in the Mahakumbh area.

The doctors started treatment by sitting on the chair. The number of people who died was also increasing.

Hospital 400 meters away from stampede About 400 meters from Sangam, Sector-4 has Sangam Hospital. Here we found a staff of two people. We asked how many beds are there here? The answer received- there is 20 beds. The beds here are less, so patients are being taken directly to the Central Hospital. From 2 o’clock, the ambulance started coming and going and she continued to make rounds continuously for 90 minutes. Deadbody of the dead was sent to the Medical College.

Eyewitness said – Ambulances came after half an hour Ramesh, who came from Colonelganj in Gonda, says, ‘After the stampede, there was a shouts all around. There were very few policemen there. Called for an ambulance, but she came after 30 minutes. It turned out that ambulances have come out of the Central Hospital, but got stuck in the crowd. After this, the police removed the people and took the ambulance forward. The ambulance reached the Central Hospital via the reserve routes for the akhadas.

Second incident of stampede in Sector-21 Sector-21 has Satua Baba’s ashram. The crowd started growing here at around 3 pm on the night of 28 January. These people wanted to go towards Sangam. Eyewitness says that police and CRPF jawans were sending the crowd to the other side. Meanwhile, there was a stampede. Barricades broke. There were iron nets, people got trapped in it. In 5 minutes, there was a scream in the 250 meter area.

There is a hospital about 200 meters from here. It was filled with the injured. Dead body started to be kept in a room. A staff of the hospital did not reveal the name, saying that 24 dead bodies were brought here shortly after the accident. Of these, 21 were sent to the District Hospital.

Here we found Suraj Pal from Rudrapur in Uttarakhand. They were crying outside the hospital. His father Nandram and maternal uncle Shishpal were missing. Suraj said, ‘The same path was opened to go to the confluence. He was very crowded. This caused a stampede. I have come to the hospital in search of my father.

Due to the closure of the road leading to Sangam, the crowd gathered at one place. There was no place to move forward.

65 -year -old Devasharan has come from Ballia district. they tell,

The wife fell down in front of me and people started coming out of her. I was pulled by a boy, so I survived. The wife does not know anything yet. I came to the hospital looking for him.

Initially no one was given an entry in the hospital. After some time we went inside and saw that more than 30 patients were undergoing treatment in a 20 -bed hospital. The staff was taking care that no photos or videos were made.

Administration agreed late in the evening- 30 deaths in stampede The bath of Mauni Amavasya ended.
