Islamabad:
After the anti-government protest led by PTI in Islamabad and the government’s action against the protesters, a war of allegations and counter-allegations has started. While the government claims that there were no casualties in its action, PTI is claiming that many of its workers were killed.
On 26 November, a major action was taken by security forces to disperse thousands of PTI protesters present in Islamabad. The government claims that they arrested at least 4,185 PTI workers. The arrested people will now be charged with terrorism in Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
Atta Tarar said, “PTI has launched a false propaganda campaign claiming that its workers have been killed in firing by security forces. I want to confirm that security forces have been deployed to disperse the protesters.” The forces did not use any kind of weapon and are trying to make false allegations against the government and fulfill their vested interests by playing dirty politics.
The Information Minister said, “PTI claims that hundreds of its workers have been killed. I ask them, where are the bodies? Why is there no data in the hospitals? PTI is running a false story that hospitals are forced to hide records. “Which has been done, which is completely wrong.”
On the other hand, varying claims were made by PTI leaders regarding the number of casualties among its workers during the Islamabad protests. The PTI leadership then confirmed that at least 12 of its workers were killed, while hundreds of others were injured. PTI criticized the government for trying to hide evidence of the number of deaths.
Let us tell you that on 26 November, there were heated clashes between security forces and PTI supporters in Islamabad. This happened when PTI supporters moved towards the heavily barricaded D-Chowk for the party’s ‘last call’, and intense tear gas shells were fired to disperse the protesters.
Following the late night action by the government, PTI’s top leadership and supporters had to make a hasty retreat, following which the party suddenly suspended its protest movement.
