Strict action has been taken by the central government against online gaming and betting bets. Ministry of Electronics and IT Meity has issued 1298 block orders. These orders have been issued to close online betting and gaming websites. Orders were issued by the central government under the IT Act. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about this in the Lok Sabha.
The government has taken concrete steps to curb activities like online gaming and gambling. On Wednesday, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the draft rules have been issued to control these activities. This step is a big initiative to protect the youth and children from their ill effects as well as to curb cyber crimes.
What is special in the draft rules?
Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that many important provisions have been included in the draft rules. These include the formation of a regulatory unit, prohibiting harmful materials in online gaming, measures to protect youth and children from addiction, ensuring parents control and adherence to age related rules. He said that these rules are trying to make online gaming safe and responsible.
Progress on cyber crimes, increase in awareness
Vaishnav said during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha that there is continuous progress in dealing with cyber crimes. He insisted that awareness is also increasing in the society and people are developing an understanding of avoiding its evils along with adopting the goodness of the cyber world. A strong legal framework is being prepared by the efforts of the government, which will prove to be effective in dealing with this problem.
1097 website block in 2024
The minister said that strict action has also been taken on websites promoting online betting and gambling. In the year 2024, 1097 such websites have been blocked so far. He said that whenever such violations come to the notice of the central government, quick action is taken under the constitutional framework.
Joint responsibility of state and center
Vaishnav made it clear that law and order is the subject of state governments, but the regulation of these websites as intermediate (intermediate) comes under the jurisdiction of the center. He said, “In the event of a violation, the state and the centers can deal with it together. It is possible to solve this problem with cooperation at both levels.”
MPs expressed concern
Congress MP S Jatimani, Kirti Azad of Trinamool Congress and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey expressed concern about the bad effects on youth and their families due to online gaming and gambling. The MPs, referring to such incidents, demanded the government to take drastic measures. In response, Vaishnav assured that the government is continuously working in this direction.
