In Indore, fed up with the harassment from his wife and in-laws, a 28-year-old youth committed suicide. Before hanging himself, he wrote a 14-page suicide note, in which he blamed his wife, mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law for his death.

Event photographer and cafe operator Nitin (28) Padiyar, living in Yadav Nand Nagar of Banganga, had committed suicide on Monday night. In the suicide note, Nitin alleged that wife Harsha Sharma’s family never accepted his marriage. The marriage took place in 2019, the dispute started six months later.
In 2024, Harsha filed a case of dowry harassment against Nitin, brother-in-law Suraj and mother-in-law. They were demanding Rs 20 lakh for the settlement. Rajasthan Police also asked for Rs 50,000 to remove the name from the dowry harassment FIR.
On these allegations, Harsha says that dowry was demanded from her since her marriage.

I am Nitin Padiyar committing suicide. Wife Harsha Sharma has implicated me and my entire family in a false case. I had a love marriage with Harsha in August 2019. Both of our families were not ready for marriage. So we ran away and got married. Started living in a rented house apart from the house. Two months after our marriage, my family accepted us. The family married us in front of the society.
My mother-in-law Sita Sharma was not happy with this marriage. They never adopted me. The reason for my death is my wife Harsha Sharma, mother-in-law Sita Sharma, sister-in-law Meenakshi and Varsha Sharma. They have intimidated and blackmailed me a lot.
Kept fighting with family at wife’s insistence On Harsha’s advice I fought with my mother and brother. Started living separately upstairs in the same house. After a few days, Harsha started waking up by 11 in the morning. I used to go to work at 10.30 in the morning hungry. Sister-in-law fed me several times. When mother explained this to Harsha, she started arguing. After a few days, Harsha became pregnant. He told this to his mother. He said that we should not have any relation with Nitin’s child.
Harsha’s mother did not come to the baby shower After completion of 6 months of Harsha’s pregnancy, we organized a baby shower. When Harsha’s mother did not come, we got the baby shower ceremony done by our nephew Anirudh. A few days later the son was born. Even then Harsha’s mother did not come to see him.
Nitin and Harsha eloped and got married in 2019.
Pressured to live separately after having a son To fulfill Harsha’s wish, I took a loan for business. But there was loss in it. After this, he took another loan and incurred loss in that too. After a fight, Harsha went to her parents’ home in Jodhpur with her elder sister Meenakshi at 6 am on March 4, 2023. After a few months I told her that I was missing my son Honey, you should come home.
On mother’s insistence, Harsha placed a condition that she would stay away from the family only then she would return. He blocked my number. When he connected it to another mobile, his mother would pick up the phone and not let him talk. This continued for a year. I agreed to live separately, but Harsha and her mother said that Rs 20 lakh was required. I’m already in so much debt. From where should I give Rs 20 lakh?
I went to Rajasthan with my family to talk to Harsha. Then Harsha and his mother said that if you don’t give, they will embroil you in the case. After this, Harsha filed a dowry harassment case against us in the court. The police also intimidated, threatened and insulted me, mother and brother a lot.
My family had never set foot in any police station. Those people are very simple. He has to go to court in a false case. My brother is the only earning person in my house. I am unable to work. We have to go to Rajasthan every month for court dates.
In the suicide note, Nitin has accused (right to left) wife Harsha, mother-in-law Sita, Varsha and sister-in-law Meenakshi of harassment.
Serious allegations were also made against Rajasthan Police The Rajasthan police station had asked for Rs 50,000 in exchange for removing the names of mother and brother from the FIR. We did not have money, then the police station officer beat me up. Somehow they took statements. We were telling one thing and they were writing something else. I don’t remember the names of the policemen. But if there is an investigation, everything will be known. The surname of the police station officer was Chaudhary and the name of the SI is Ramlal. There were other policemen there also.
Women are misusing the law I, Nitin Padiyar, request the Government of India to change the law. Women are misusing this law. If this law and order is not changed, many boys and their families will continue to be ruined every day. I request all the youth of India not to get married and even if they do, they should get an agreement made. Give me justice after my death. If you are unable to do this then wait for your turn.
Wrote emotional note for all the family members
Mom, listen. After I leave, don’t cry and don’t let anyone cry. If you guys cry, I will feel pain even after death. I will come back, as your son. I’m sorry. Brother Brother, I could never tell you. You are my everything. If you live, you have courage. Take care of mom. And the last thing I could never say to you – I love you. Sister in law Sister-in-law, I apologize to you too. For Harsha’s sake I also spoke wrongly to you. I request you to never let brother and mother feel sad.

The family demanded hanging
Nitin’s elder brother Suraj told, Rajasthan Police pulled Nitin’s hair to kill him. Threatened the entire family and talked about putting them in jail. I request the Government of India to hang my brother’s accused. You have saved a lot of daughters, now you should save your sons also.
Nitin’s mother Radha said that I was bringing my grandchildren from school. Nitin was returning from the market. He took us in the car from the road and brought us to the house and then went to the upstairs room. Harsha never liked our family. She would get angry even when called for food.
