A grand parade will be organized on the duty path on the occasion of Republic Day on 26 January. Delhi Police has made all its preparations for the security of this special day. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incident on the duty route and surrounding areas. Delhi Police personnel will keep a vigilant vigil at every nook and corner and tight security arrangements will be ensured from sky to ground.
According to the police, six levels of arrangements have been made for the security of the parade route. 15,000 personnel will be deployed in the outer security layer of the duty path, which will include Delhi Police, Additional Reserve Police Companies, Quick Response Team, SWAT Commandos, bomb disposal and investigation teams, as well as traffic police personnel.
All borders of Delhi sealed
Mainly paramilitary forces will be deployed in the second security layer. Paramilitary forces will be deployed at strategic places from Rashtrapati Bhavan to Red Fort. Apart from this, there will be presence of paramilitary forces along with the police at all the borders of Delhi and barricades within the city.
Monitoring activities from control room
The third security layer, which is the most important. Soldiers of the three armies, National Security Guards (NSG) commandos, and special personnel of central intelligence agencies will be involved. Along with ensuring the safety of the VVIP guests, these soldiers will also keep an eye on the activities around them and will be directly connected to the control room.
Before the Republic Day security, a central command room is established, through which all the officers remain in touch. The entire Delhi city is monitored from this command room. Apart from this, CCTV control rooms are also made at various places, which are continuously monitored.
Snipers deployed since night
NSG’s dog squad will also be deployed at various places for the security of January 26. Keeping security in mind, Delhi Police will vacate the high buildings of New Delhi from January 25 itself. Along with this, snipers will be deployed in New Delhi and around the parade route from the night of 25th January, whose number will be more than 100.
At present, Section 144 is in force in Delhi and along with this, the police has completely banned any type of flying objects. Keeping security in mind, anti-drone and anti-aircraft guns have also been deployed. Apart from this, CCTV cameras with Face Recognition System (FRS) have been installed, which are connected to a server, which contains photographs of 50 thousand suspects, terrorists and criminals.
It will scan the person passing in front of the camera and if his face matches the description of a suspect, the policemen deployed on the beat will be immediately informed. There are more than 100 such points on the entire parade route, where cameras with AI technology and FRS technology have been installed.
These cameras have been installed at such strategic places that it is almost impossible to avoid their attention. Anti-aircraft guns have also been deployed at various places in Delhi. It is estimated that one lakh spectators will reach. This time the police has conducted security drill 10 times so far on the duty path.
