163 cases of GB syndrome in Maharashtra: 21 patients on ventilator support, 47 in ICU; 86 cases in Pune alone

3 killed in West Bengal

Kolkata and Hooghly District Hospital claims to have 3 deaths from GB syndrome. According to reports, Debkumar Sahu (10), a resident of Jagaddal in North 24 Parganas district, and Aritra Manal (17) from Amdanga have died. The third deceased is a 48 -year -old man from Dhanyakhali village in Hooghly district.

Treatment expensive, one injection of 20 thousand

Treatment of GBS is expensive. According to doctors, patients typically have to do immunoglobulin (IVIG) injection course. An injection in a private hospital is priced at 20 thousand rupees.

The relatives of a 68 -year -old patient admitted to the hospital in Pune said that their patient had to put 13 injections during treatment.

According to the doctors, 80% of the patients in the grip of GBS start walking without any support in 6 months after discharge from the hospital. But in many cases the patient takes one year or more time.
