360 days is a very long time… Mohammed Shami became emotional on his return

New Delhi. Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is happy to return to competitive cricket after a year. Shami says that 360 days is a very long time and he is fully prepared to wreak havoc with his bowling in Ranji Trophy. The fifth round of Ranji Trophy will start from Wednesday. Shami will play for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh. Shami, who was away from competitive cricket since the World Cup 2023 final on November 19 last year, had an ankle injury for which he had to undergo an operation. His aim will be to prove his match fitness in match situations after rigorous rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Mohammed Shami wrote on social media, ‘Back in action. 360 days is a very long time. I am fully prepared for Ranji Trophy. I am going to return to domestic cricket with the same passion and energy. I express my gratitude to all the fans for their immense love, support and inspiration. Come on, let’s make this season memorable. Shami has shared some photos on Instagram with this caption, in which he is seen at the airport.

Shami has his eyes on Australia tour
Earlier, Bengal Cricket Association secretary Naresh Ojha said the Indian cricket team and the Bengal Ranji Trophy will get a boost from star fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s competitive cricket with Bengal’s Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Madhya Pradesh starting in Indore on Wednesday. Coming back to it will give you strength. Ojha said that Shami will lead the fast bowling attack of Bengal and the eyes of India’s think tank present in Australia will also be fixed on his performance.

Shami took 16 wickets on the Australia tour in 2018-19.
India have relied on inexperienced fast bowlers like Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna to support Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and Khalil Ahmed are also included in the reserve players but they too do not have much experience of playing Test cricket. Shami played an important role in India’s 2-1 win in the Test series in Australia in 2018-19, taking 16 wickets at an average of 26.18.
