Naga Baba, Aghori, Modern Sadhvis and Bal Naga Sadhus have always been the center of attraction in the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj (Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025). One such Baba who came to Mahakumbh is being discussed a lot these days. He is being called ‘Masani Gorakh Baba’, ‘Engineer Baba’ and ‘IITian Baba’. He claims that he has done Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay), Bombay. Leaving the path of science, he adopted the path of spirituality. Now they find peace in spiritual life.
These days, Engineer Baba, who reached Prayagraj for Mahakumbh, is explaining the lessons of spirituality and self-purification to the people. In a special interview with NDTV, Engineer Baba has shared many things about his early life, college, family, job and spiritual journey.

Who is Engineer Baba?
Engineer Baba’s real name is Abhay Singh. According to his Instagram handle, he is originally from Haryana. Abhay Singh has claimed in many media interviews that he has done engineering from IIT Bombay. His subject was aerospace. But, many people do not believe this to be true. Many users on social media have called Engineer Baba fake.
For those who question his Aerospace Engineering degree, Abhay Singh says, “Nowadays everything has become digital. You check the website of IIT. All the details will be available there. I am sitting in the convocation with the degree. There is a bigger proof than this. What else can I give?”
Answer to those who called me crazy
Abhay Singh has also responded to calling himself a freak. He said, “It’s great that people are calling me crazy… it means I am focused on one thing. Whatever other people say, it doesn’t matter to me.”
Got a package worth lakhs after completing studies
Abhay Singh told that after completing his studies from Bombay IIT, he was sitting in the campus interview. He was selected in this. He was offered a package worth lakhs from a company. He worked for a few days. Then left the job to pursue a design course.

Left job for travel photography
According to Abhay Singh, he was fond of photography since his school days. He especially enjoyed travel photography. He wanted to do some course related to this. So one day I left engineering. Then did a course in travel photography. During this time his philosophy regarding life changed. He also opened his own coaching center for some time. Used to teach physics here. But, he did not feel like it. His mind started becoming interested in spirituality.
Used to study philosophy apart from engineering
Engineer Baba Abhay Singh said, “While doing engineering, I started connecting with philosophy. Apart from the course, I used to read books on philosophy. To understand the meaning of life, I read articles and books of Neo-Postmodernism, Socrates, Plato. Then “Once upon a time, I chose the path of spirituality.”
Abhay Singh said, “I started having an inclination towards creativity from the second year of engineering. In the first internship, I traveled throughout Uttarakhand with a camera. During the second internship, I stayed in Himachal. My engineering studies are now coming in handy. I haven’t been able to become anything yet, I will become an Aghori when needed.”
Told how IIT was cracked?
Engineer Baba has mentioned family feud in the interview. He told, “All was not well in the family. There were frequent fights between my parents. This had an impact on me. I wanted to stay away from them. To avoid fights, I used to sleep in the evening after coming back from school and By then I would wake up at 12 o’clock and then I could do whatever I wanted at home.
Got a girlfriend but didn’t want to get married
Engineer Baba Abhay Singh has also talked about his love life in the interview. He said, “I also had a girlfriend. We lived together for about 4 years. But the matter did not reach the point of marriage. I did not want to get married after seeing the fights of my parents. Because there would be only the same fights in life. So I thought what? Have to do it. It’s better to be alone and be happy.”
Is this permanent renunciation?
In response to this, Abhay Singh says, “If my renunciation is not permanent, then it means that I have not yet got the answers to all my questions from life. The thing that transits is not the truth.”
