Delhi Crime Branch has arrested serial killer Chandrakant Jha. He was serving a life sentence and was released on parole in the year 2023. But Jha did not surrender. Police had placed a reward of Rs 50,000 on Chandrakant Jha. He has been arrested after an operation that lasted more than three months. Serial killer Chandrakant Jha had shaken Delhi with serial murders in 2006 and 2007. A documentary ‘Indian Predator, The Butcher of Delhi’ was made on him on ‘Netflix’.

According to Crime Branch DCP Sanjay Sen, the accused Chandrakant Jha was absconding and was a threat to the society considering his previous crime pattern. Therefore, to catch him, a team of ISC, Crime Branch was formed. This team worked continuously for several months. The police made every effort to trace Chandrakant Jha. During the operation, the police contacted the relatives of the accused and worked on every small detail. The mobile numbers of his entire family were also kept on surveillance.

Recce of his previous crime scenes was also done to get clues. Apart from this, rickshaw pullers, battery rickshaw pullers and small transport carriers were also checked. The team also visited several fruit and vegetable markets in Delhi NCR, Haryana, UP and Bihar as the accused used to work in the mandis earlier. Finally, months of hard work paid off and Head Constable Naveen traced a mobile number whose activity was highly suspicious. On January 17, 2025, Chandrakant Jha was caught from Old Delhi Railway Station. He was trying to escape from Delhi to Bihar.

Delhi was shaken by serial murders in the years 2006 and 2007. Chandrakant Jha used to kill the victims by beheading them following a pattern. After that he would cut off their body parts. The mutilated bodies of these youth were thrown outside the Central Tihar Jail. Apart from this, he also used to throw dead body pieces at many places around Delhi. He did not stop here and after dumping the mutilated body, he used to tell the police about the crime and the place. Where he used to throw mutilated bodies. He also used to leave a letter there, in which he challenged the law enforcement agencies.

first murder – Initially he was involved in thefts, but in the year 1998, he murdered a person named Mangal alias Aurangzeb in Adarsh ​​Nagar area. It created a sensation by cutting body parts and throwing them at different places. The accused was arrested in the same year in 1998 and was in jail till 2002.

Second murder: In the month of June 2003, he murdered one of his associates, Shekhar, accusing him of being a drunkard and a liar. He murdered her in Haiderpur area and threw the body in Alipur police station area.

Third murder: In November, 2003, she murdered a man named Umesh, a resident of Bihar, who was living with her and accused him of lying and cheating. To create a sensation, he threw the body near Gate No. 1 of Tihar Jail.

Fourth murder: In November 2005, he murdered a man named Guddu, a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar. Because he did not like his habits. Which included smoking ganja and wasteful expenditure. His body was thrown near Sulabh toilet in Mongol Puri police station area.

Fifth murder: In October 2006, he murdered his colleague Amit, a resident of Azadpur. She alleged that he was involved in harassing women and she did not like his habits. The body was then thrown in front of Tihar Jail.

Sixth murder: In April 2007, he murdered his colleague Upendra. Who was allegedly having an affair with his friend’s daughter and had warned him not to continue this relationship. When he did not desist from his actions, she killed him and threw his body near Gate No. 3 of Tihar Jail.

Seventh murder: After this, in May 2007, he murdered his partner Dilip, because he did not like his habit of eating non-veg. He had thrown the body near Gate No. 1 of Tihar Jail.

The accused is a brutal killer. He often kept boys from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar with him on the pretext of finding work and providing them food. The accused used to object to the small desires of his roommates like drinking alcohol, eating meat, having relations with a woman, telling lies.

He used to carry the plastic bag containing the dead body in his cycle-rickshaw. In which the scooter engine was installed.

In the early morning he used to throw the dead body at pre-marked places. He did all the cutting and packing of the body in a very professional manner. Due to which blood was not visible much.
