IITian Baba’s story is like Farhan of 3 Idiots: Wanted to become a photographer, family asked him to study in IIT, said – did not find happiness in it – Jhajjar News

Like Farhan Qureshi of the film 3 Idiots, Abhay Singh was fond of photography.

In the year 2009, Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s movie Three Idiots was released, in which one of the characters was Farhan Qureshi. Whom his parents sent him to study in IIT. In this Farhan tells his father that I do not understand engineering. I am interested in wildlife photography

A similar story of Abhay Singh alias IITian Baba, resident of Jhajjar district of Haryana, which went viral in Prayagraj Mahakumbh, is also there. Abhay Singh himself told that my interest was in photography. But, at the insistence of my family, I studied science. He did Aerospace Engineering from IIT Bombay. Abhay Singh claims that he also told the family but they did not agree.

IITian Baba’s words on interest in arts and engineering studies…

1. Had interest in art, used to make live sketches when he was younger. A reporter asked Abhay Singh that you did engineering in aerospace from IIT Bombay, which means your interest was in science. On this Abhay said- I was more interested in art since childhood. Growing up, I used to make live sketches by observing people. The situation at home was such that he used to say that nothing would be achieved in all this. You don’t get any money, take science.

2. Family said – prepare for IAS, but did not let you take Arts There was a time when the family told me to prepare for IAS. On this I thought that we should take Arts in 11-12th because Civics Geography is more important in it. Then the family said that you can do IAS later, now you should take science. In 11th I took both Bio and Maths, in 12th I took only Maths.

3. I wanted to do something that would give happiness in life. Abhay said that I did engineering. There was hope in this that we would also earn money. But, I had to do something that would give me happiness throughout my life. Which is interesting. Then I remembered old things that I am interested in art. I was interested in photography. I focused on the area of designing. Master’s degree in Visual Communication. After this did the job of travel photography.

Traveled to many states, then felt that enough was enough. Abhay Singh further said – IIT is a government sponsored project. In that I visited Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Himachal, Lahaul Spiti. As soon as I roamed around in it, I started wondering why I am roaming from here to there. Man gets tired. After this I felt that I have to sit now, enough is enough.

How to come from science to spirituality On this, Abhay Singh said that the important question from the beginning was what to do in life. Had to go to IIT. After going there the question changed to that you will earn money from this but what is the thing that will give you happiness. Initially I was more interested in documentary photography than storytelling. Even during my master’s degree, my subjects were the same. Like the effect on children of domestic violence (what is the effect of domestic violence on children). After this I gradually turned towards spirituality.

How did IITian Baba reach Mahakumbh? His guru Someshwar Puri tells that Abhay Singh met him in Kashi. He was roaming around like a fool. During the conversation it seemed that he was very curious about spirituality. Due to which he kept them with him. Then brought him to Mahakumbh so that he could have darshan of the great men and gurus who came here.
