The accused was captured in CCTV footage
According to police sources, for the arrest of the accused, the photo of the accused was first shared in every police station of Mumbai Police. Also, on the basis of CCTV footage of different areas, the police were keeping an eye on the accused. Meanwhile, the police got a tip that he had been seen in Ghodbunder area. The police had surrounded the accused using mobile surveillance and local intelligence. When the accused came to know that the police had surrounded him from all sides, he started trying to hide in the nearby bushes. To avoid the attention of the police, the accused had spread dry leaves on himself. But the police caught him from there on the basis of the activity happening behind the bushes.
Police got clue on payment for water and paratha
According to information received from police sources, the accused had kept his phone switched off since the incident to avoid police attention. He used to use his phone for some time and then switch it off and change his location. Meanwhile, at one place he had taken a bottle of water after having breakfast. During that time, he had paid the shopkeeper for paratha and water bottle through his own UPI. According to sources, the police also came to know a lot about him from this payment made near a mall in Worli. The police had found out at which location he had last used his UPI ID from this phone. And on the basis of that, the police had analyzed the CCTV footage installed in that area.
Police had scanned 500 CCTV footage
The police was using every kind of surveillance to reach the accused. The Mumbai Police team had scanned more than 500 CCTV footage in search of the accused. The police had come to know from the informer that the accused was hired by a person named Pandey first in Worli and later in Thane without any verification. Now the police is also interrogating Pandey regarding this matter.

During police interrogation, the accused told that he had already committed many such theft incidents. He has told that he often committed theft in those areas where more rich people lived. Therefore, he had tried to commit theft in this area on Thursday.
The accused did not know that this was Saif’s house
According to police sources, when the accused entered Saif Ali Khan’s house to commit theft, he did not know that it was Saif Ali Khan’s house. During police interrogation, the accused admitted that he had entered Saif’s house thinking it was a normal house. He had no idea that Kareena and Saif live in the same flat.
The accused turned out to be a Bangladeshi
The accused who attacked Saif is a resident of Bangladesh. According to the police, it is clear from the birth certificate they have found with the accused that the accused is a citizen of Bangladesh. According to the police, the accused had come to Mumbai only 7-8 months ago. To get a job in Mumbai, he revealed his name as Vijoy. This is his fake name.
The accused was also preparing for theft on 31st December.
