The Bangladeshi citizen arrested by the police who attacked Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan had come to India through Meghalaya seven months ago and then stayed in West Bengal for a few weeks. After this he reached Mumbai in search of work. Police sources gave this information.

A Mumbai Police officer investigating the case of accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad said that 30-year-old Shahzad had entered India illegally by crossing the Dwaki river located on the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya. After this he changed his name to Bijoy Das and started living here. Police had earlier told that Shahzad is a native of Jhalokathi district of Bangladesh.
The accused had taken the SIM card on the basis of being a resident of Bengal.
According to a police officer, Shahzad said that during his stay in Bengal, he had used the Aadhaar card of a local resident to buy a mobile phone SIM card before leaving for Mumbai. The official said that the SIM card is registered in the name of Bengal resident Khukumoni Jahangir Sekha.
The accused worked at a place where documents were not required
The officer said that after reaching Mumbai, the accused chose to work at such places where he was not required to submit any documents. “He studied till 12th in Bangladesh and came to India in search of a job,” the officer said. Let us tell you that Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times, due to which he suffered serious injuries. According to the information, on the morning of January 16, Shehzad had attacked the actor with a knife during a failed attempt of theft at his 12th floor residence in the “Satguru Sharan” building located in the posh area of ​​Bandra. After this, the doctors performed surgery and removed a 2.5 inch piece of the broken knife from his spinal cord.
He attacked to free himself from the actor
The doctor had also told that if the knife had caused a deeper wound of 2 mm, it could have caused serious injury to the actor. The actor was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday. Sources earlier said that Shehzad told the police that she had stabbed the actor several times in the back to free herself from him. He also told that he hid in the garden of their flat building for about two hours before fleeing the area.

In her statement given to the police, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that she had seen the attacker repeatedly attacking Saif. He said, “The attacker was very aggressive. I saw him repeatedly attacking Saif… Our priority was to take Saif to the hospital.” Nurse Eliama Phillips, who took care of Saif and Kareena’s younger son Jahangir (Jeh), said that the accused had demanded Rs 1 crore.
Shehzad was arrested after more than 70 hours of search.
Multiple teams of police and crime branch worked on multiple inputs and also analyzed footage from multiple CCTV cameras to trace Saif Ali Khan’s attacker. After a massive search of over 70 hours, Shehzad was arrested on Sunday near Hiranandani Estate in Thane’s Kasarvadavali, about 35 km from Saif Ali Khan’s house in Bandra. After this he was sent to police custody for five days.
