What happened on the day of Amrit bathing?

  1. The bath of Mauni Amavasya is considered to be the biggest bath in Mahakumbh. On 29 January (Wednesday), devotees started gathering on the Sangam coast from Monday to take a bath. By Tuesday afternoon, according to estimates, 2.5 crore people had reached. There was a 15 km long jam of trains in Prayagraj.
  2. DIG Vaibhav Krishna said, “There was a lot of crowd between 1 to 2 pm on Tuesday night. Some devotees were sleeping on the confluence coast for the Amrit bath in Brahma Muhurta on Mouni Amavasya. Barricades are installed in the fair. The barricades broke, due to which some devotees who were sleeping on the ground climbed into chaos.
  3. As soon as the information about the stampede on Sangam nose was received, the fair administration had stopped the Amrit bath at present. It was appealed by Ravindrapuri President of Akhara Parishad. After which the arena also started returning to the camp. Till then, there was no strong information about how the stampede took place and how many people lost their lives.
  4. The day was coming out, but the stampede situation was not clear. During this time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was constantly monitoring the stampede in Mahakumbh. CM Yogi Adityanath was also taking the news of the situation moment by moment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the incident as extremely tragic and expressed his deep condolences to the devotees who lost their families.
  5. After the stampede, the Akhara Parishad refused to take a bath. However, later, after the situation became normal, the Akharas decided that they would attend the Amrit bath. In the confluence for bathing, flowers were rained by helicopter on saints and saints. All 13 akharas took a bath in the nectar.
  6. During this time, the Leader of Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and SP MP from Kannauj, Akhilesh Yadav questioned the management and VIP protocol of Mahakumbh. Many opposition leaders criticized UP’s BJP government and fair management.
  7. About 17 hours after the stampede, the fair management held a press conference and released the data of the dead and the injured. DIG Vaibhav Krishna told that 90 people were injured. Out of these, 30 people have died. 60 people are undergoing treatment. 25 bodies have been identified. The bodies of devotees killed in the stampede have been taken to the Morchuri of the Medical College. DIG said that there is no VIP protocol on 29 January.
  8. After this, the statement of UP CM Yogi Adityanath came out. Expressing deep grief over this incident, he announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased. CM Yogi also ordered a judicial inquiry into the Mahakumbh stampede.
  9. Extra barricades have been installed to control the crowd at the confluence for bathing on Mauni Amavasya. Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed. The soldiers of Defense and Paramilitary Force are busy in controlling the crowd by catching barricading.
  10. According to an estimate, on Mauni Amavasya, till tonight, 8 crore devotees will bathe in Amrit. So far, 6.99 crore devotees have taken a Amrit bath in Mahakumbh. About 20 crore people have taken a dip in the Ganges so far in Mahakumbh, which started from 13 January.
