Weather Change: Along with fog in the sky, pink cold has knocked in North Bihar. The temperature suddenly dropped and people started feeling cold. Already, the minimum temperature in North Bihar is between 16 to 17 degrees Celsius and the maximum is between 26 to 29 degrees Celsius. Now there is no need to run fan, cooler or AC at night; people have to sleep with woolen sheets or blankets stretched over them. People have started avoiding cold water. At the same time, hot food is starting to taste good. Now people have started shying away from drinking cold water or bathing in cold water. They have started using only lukewarm water for this also. Now people have started loving even the harsh sunlight. In the morning and evening people have sweaters, cardigans and sheets on their bodies. People are not missing out on consuming sunlight during the day. Whereas even in South Bihar, people are still seen avoiding the scorching sun. Fan, AC and cooler are being used continuously there.
Woolen clothes hung instead of cotton
Till yesterday, the shop in the market where cotton clothes were put on show or light summer clothes were kept in the counter, its appearance has also completely changed. Cotton clothes have been replaced by woolen clothes. Woolen sweaters, cardigans, mufflers, scarves, coats and shawls of different brands have started attracting people. Apart from this, shopkeepers have also started stocking inner-wear. The melodious sound of cotton blowing has also started coming in the vacant places of the market, which is indicating that quilts are being made for the cold. People have also started reaching shoe and socks shops. Shashi Shekhar Samrat, proprietor of Monte Carlo Show Room, said that in view of the cold, adequate stock of sweaters, coats, bundies, blankets and shawls has been made in the new designs. People have also started coming. A crowd of people getting coats made has started gathering at the tailor’s place too. Mohd. Rafat Parvez of Afroz Tailors said that so far in five days, a dozen people have placed orders for making coats.
Distance from ice cream and close to non-veg
Now people have started moving away from cold drinks, ice cream, lassi, curd or food items sold in the refrigerator. It is said that using such things in cold is not good for health. Apart from cold and cough, there is a risk of cold attack. These things have now been replaced by tea, coffee and hot milk. The tea shops in the market have also started getting crowded throughout the day. However, considering the taste of non-vegetarians, egg counters have opened at many places in the market. Similarly, the list of varieties of mutton, chicken and egg has also been made in the restaurant. Egg businessman Sujit Kumar Ghosh said that although he has been selling egg items for years, sales have started increasing with the onset of winter. He told that since half of November, 20 to 25 cartoon eggs have started being sold daily.
Now the cold comes late and goes soon
Earlier children were taught that there were four seasons in the year. Summer, winter, spring and rainy. The duration of each season was said to be three months, but in the last one and a half to two decades, there has been a big change in the coming and going of the seasons. Firstly, its duration is no longer three months, secondly the duration of cold is continuously decreasing. 80 year old Shivshankar Jha says that due to unbalanced environment, the duration of summer is continuously increasing and the duration of cold is decreasing. 70 year old Subhash Chandra Khan told that earlier cold started arriving from the month of October itself. Sweaters, quilts and blankets used to go away, but now after half of November, the feeling of cold starts. Whereas Dhruv Kumar Keshari said that now the cold has started lasting hardly one to one and a half months. The duration of cold wave has also started increasing to barely 10 to 12 days. This is not only a matter of India but of global concern. There is a need to run a global campaign for environmental balance.
