Dulari Devi lives in a small village Ranti in Madhubani district of Bihar. Dulari Devi, 57, was awarded the Padma Shri Award in 2021. The central government gave this honor to Dulari Devi for his contribution to Madhubani painting.
Talking to Bhaskar in 2021, Dulari Devi said, ‘Dad was a fisherman. Launched at an early age. Mataji started raising us by working as a laborer. Since childhood, I started going to work with my three sisters and my brother mother. So there was never a chance to go to school.
Dulari Devi was married at the age of just 12. When she had a daughter, she died after 6 months. After this, there was a rift in the in -laws and Dulari Devi left her in -laws and went to her house. Then she started working at the house of Mahasundari Devi, who lives in the neighborhood. Mahasundari Devi used to do Mithila painting. In 2011, the government also honored him with the Padma Shri.

Art learned from Mahasundari Devi
Dulari Devi had told, ‘I used to do all the work in the house of Mahasundari Devi. Like, sweeping, washing utensils, wipe, washing clothes. Bringing something from outside or cleaning. Whatever order was there, she used to work.
‘When I got a chance, I used to make painting on the ground with a wooden coach. Was very fond of pulling the lines. Sometimes used to work in the kitchen, then there used to be water streaks there too. Mahasundari Devi saw me doing this. She understood that I was interested in painting. While living in his house, I came in contact with Karpoori Devi, who has been a very famous Mithila painter. Seeing my interest, he started guiding me.
