UGC: 6 non -BJP states opposed UGC’s new draft, know what are the new rules

UGC: UGC has made some changes in the rules of appointment of vice -chancellors, after which various reactions are coming out of this proposal across the country. Meanwhile, six states of the country have passed a resolution and refused to accept the rules of this new draft of UGC. All these states are non-BJP ruled, including Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Now the question is what is the proposal of UGC, which has been rejected by these six states.

These changes made in UGC’s new draft

Under the new rules of UGC, now ten years of teaching experience will not be mandatory for the post of Vice Chancellor. Instead of teaching, people with ten years of experience in areas like research, business and public administration will be considered eligible for this post. Apart from this, a change has also been made about the age of the Vice Chancellor. Now the Vice Chancellor will be appointed only till the age of 70 years. According to the new draft, any Vice Chancellor can have a maximum of two terms in an institution, which will be five-five years. It has also been said in the draft that if the Vice Chancellor is not posted in an institute, it will be declared as void.

Even PhDs without NET will also be able to become professors

The rules of appointment to the posts of Assistant Professor have been changed in the UGC draft. Under this, now candidates will be able to become assistant professors without net and PhD in universities and higher education institutions. Candidates with degrees like ME, MTech will also be able to apply for this. The UGC also sought suggestions on this draft. At the same time, non-BJP ruled states have rejected this new proposal of UGC.
