Today in history 6th February: February 6 has its own importance in history. On the same day, Elizabeth II took over the throne of Great Britain in 1952 and in 1971 humans enjoyed playing golf on the moon. On February 6, many great personalities were born in the world. Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as ‘Frontier Gandhi’, was born on February 6 in 1890, while former US President and Ronald Reagan, who was very popular in India, was also born on this day in 1911.

  • 1890: Birth of great freedom fighter Bharat Ratna Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan.

  • 1931: Motilal Nehru dies.
  • 1952: Elizabeth II assumed the throne of Great Britain. In 2002, he celebrated his 50 years to complete his 50 years on the throne of Britain.
  • 1958: 21 people were killed in a plane crash in Munich. Among them were seven players from Manchester United Football Club.
  • 1959: Anna Chandy was appointed the first woman judge of the Kerala High Court.
  • 1971: Alan Shepard, who reached the moon through Apollo 14, hit a golf ball from a golf club during the moon for two days and became the first person to play golf on the moon.
  • 1993: US tennis player Arthur Ash dies of AIDS pneumonia. He was the first black player to win the Grand Slam.

  • 2008: Government of India nominated Majuli Island in Assam to include in the Cultural Earthlomatic category to include in the World Heritage List of 2008.
  • 2024: India entered into a compromise of $ 78 billion so far for the import of liquid natural gas (LNG) for 20 years from Qatar.
  • 2024: The central government introduced ‘Bharat Rice’ at a concessional rate of Rs 29 per kg.
