New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his American counterpart Pete Hegseth have interacted on the phone. According to reports, the two leaders agreed to work on a comprehensive 10-year-old ‘framework’ especially to sharpen the Indo-US defense partnership in the areas of intelligence and industrial cooperation. Rajnath said that Hegseth reviewed various aspects of bilateral defense relations in the phone conversation. ‘It was agreed to prepare a broad outline’

This was Rajnath Singh’s first phone talks with Hegseth after assuming the defense minister. The statement issued by the Government of India said that in this conversation, the two countries agreed to create a wide outline to further strengthen defense cooperation. Its purpose is to better shape bilateral defense cooperation between 2025-2035. The statement also stated that Singh and Hegseth reviewed important activities of Indo-US defense relations, which discussed cooperation in various fields such as land, air, sea and space.

‘We agreed to create an ambitious agenda’

Rajnath said in a post on ‘X’ that he and Hegseth reviewed the Indo-US defense cooperation and discussed ways to further deepen bilateral relations. Singh described the conversation as “fantastic” and said, “We reviewed the ongoing defense cooperation and discussed ways to expand and deepen the Indo-US bilateral defense relations. We also agreed to create an ambitious agenda, including campaign, intelligence, equipment and defense-industrial cooperation. I am eager to work closely with Minister Hegseth.

‘Decided to work together on joint military exercises’

In the statement, the Ministry of Defense said that Rajnath Singh and Hegseth appreciated the ongoing India-US defense partnership and ‘remarkable expansion’ and expressed their commitment to deepen the relationship. It said, ‘In particular, the two ministers decided to work together on technology cooperation, integration of defense industrial supply chains, increasing coordination, sharing goods and information and joint military exercises. He also agreed to provide more support to the growing defense innovation cooperation between the governments, start-ups, businesses and educational institutions of the two countries.

PM Modi expected to reach Washington DC on the evening of 12 February

There is a phone conversation between Singh and Hegseth when the US has sent more than 100 Indians home to an army plane. The talks between Modi and Trump at Washington DC are expected to be discussed mainly on the methods of deepening the defense bilateral relations. According to the journey plan, Modi will go to America after finishing his 2 -day journey to Paris. The PM is expected to reach Washington DC on the evening of 12 February and is expected to have talks between him and Trump the next day. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to America after Trump took over the President for the second term on 20 January.
