In Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR), which is facing serious problem of pollution, 75 percent of the families have at least one member suffering from sore throat or cough. This has been revealed in a recent survey. The survey, conducted by online community platform ‘LocalCircles’, found that according to 58 percent of the families that participated in it, they complained of headaches due to the increasing levels of pollution, while 50 percent of the families had a member suffering from respiratory problems. Is facing difficulty in taking or is suffering from asthma.
The survey covered more than 21,000 residents of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, of whom 63 percent were men and 37 percent were women. “After the air quality index (AQI) hit record levels in Delhi-NCR earlier this week and PM2.5 levels touched 1500 in some parts of Delhi, LocalCircles found out how A new survey was conducted to find out how people living in Delhi-NCR are dealing with the increasing levels of air pollution.
In the survey, when people were asked what measures they were taking if AQI reached 400 in the area, 27 percent of the households said that they were using air purifiers to reduce its impact. While 23 percent said that they are not doing anything to defend themselves. Others indicated that they are dealing with it simply by increasing their intake of immunity-boosting foods and beverages.
The survey also revealed that as of November 1, 69 percent of families had at least one member suffering from a pollution-related disease, while on November 19, this figure reached 75 percent.
Meanwhile, the use of ‘air purifiers’ has increased significantly, with 18 per cent of households using them on October 19, while a month later the figure rose to 27 per cent, it said.
