India has sent the first consignment of premium Sangola and saffron pomegranate through the sea Australia. This success makes access to the fresh fruit market of India in Australia. Through this, India is entering the global supply chain in the market of fruits and vegetables.

Fig juice reached Poland

India’s unique GI tag Purandar Fig is now making a splash in Europe. In 2024, the Modi government exported India’s first ready-to-drink fig juice to Poland. Earlier, Germany was also exported in 2022. Purandar Fig is known for its unique taste and texture. Through this, India is now making its place in global agro products.

Dragon fruited exports from London to Bahrain

As part of India’s effort to diversify its fruit exports, the dragon fruit containing fiber and mineral was exported to London and Bahrain in 2021. Dragon fruit is locally known as ‘Kamalam’. The consignment to London to be exported was obtained from farmers in Kutch region of Gujarat, while the consignment of Bahrain was obtained from the farmers of West Midnapore (West Bengal).

Fresh pomegranate shipment for America

In 2023, India took a major step towards increasing its presence in the US market by exporting the first consignment of fresh pomegranate by air to the United States. Saffron pomegranate from Maharashtra has sufficient export capacity and about 50 percent of the fruit from the country is from Solapur district of the state.

‘Ltecu’ fruit of Assam went to Dubai

In 2021, the first consignment of Burmese grapes was sent from Guwahati to Dubai via Delhi. Burmese grapes are known as ‘Ltecu’ in Assamese. This exports brought the yield of Assam to the global map, which proved the capacity of the northeastern states of India in international trade.

Jackfruit from Tripura to Germany

Germany got the taste of India’s fresh jackfruit from Tripura in 2021. First, a consignment of fresh jackfruit was exported from Tripura to Germany by air. The first consignment of a metric ton fresh jackfruit was dispatched from Agartala. This reflects the efforts made by the Modi government to bring the northeastern states to the export map of Agriculture and Processed Food Market.

‘Raja Mircha’ reached London for the first time

In 2021, to promote the export of GI products from the north-eastern region extensively, a consignment of ‘Raja Mircha’ from Nagaland was first exported by air to London via Guwahati. King Mircha is also called King Chile. Given its deteriorating nature, exporting this product was a challenge, but India successfully provided its aerial shipment facility, which highlights India’s abilities in handling the special agricultural-export.

America also sent ‘red rice’ to America

In 2021, the first batch of ‘red rice’ was sent to the United States, promoting India’s rice export capacity. Iron -rich ‘red rice’ is grown in the Brahmaputra Valley of Assam without any chemical fertilizer. The variety of rice is called ‘Bao-Dhan’, which is an integral part of it.

Pineapple reached Dubai and Sharjah

In 2022, India flagged off the first batch of “Wazahkulam Pineapple” from Wazhakulam in Kerala to Dubai and Sharjah. This will give better income to pineapple farmers and will give more boost to their product in the global market.
