Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday targeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over the ongoing dispute over the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP). Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accused CM Stalin of ‘endangering progressive reforms to maintain political agenda’.
Think about the interests of the students- Principal
Dharmendra Pradhan said in a letter to Stalin that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu should rise above political differences and think about the interests of the students as he will benefit from the new National Education Policy. The Education Minister was responding to the letter written by Pradhan Stalin to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
Plain to endanger progressive educational reforms
Stalin said in his letter that it is fundamentally unacceptable to connect the central sponsored two initiatives with the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and PM Shri School with the National Education Policy (NEP). Pradhan said in his letter to Stalin, ‘The letter sent to the Prime Minister is a complete refutation of the spirit of cooperative federalism promoted by the Modi government. Therefore, it is unfair for the state to look at NEP 2020 from a short -sighted point of view and to endanger progressive educational reforms to maintain its political agenda. ‘
Center and Tamil Nadu government face to face
Tamil Nadu and the central government are face to face to implement the new education policy in the state. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government has accused the Ministry of Education of stopping funds for important schemes.
Education policy made flexible
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote, ‘Due to political reasons, the continuous opposition to NEP 2020 deprives Tamil Nadu students, teachers and educational institutions of immense opportunities and resources provided by this policy. The policy has been made flexible, allowing states to adapt to its implementation to suit their specific educational needs.
No advocacy to impose any language
Pradhan wrote, ‘Apart from this, the Center -backed programs like overall education are aligned with NEP 2020. Also, PM Shri schools have been envisaged as an ideal school of NEP. Pradhan clarified on the opposition of Tamil Nadu’s three-language formula that the policy does not advocate any language.
Non-BJP states also implemented- head
He said, ‘Many non-BJP states have implemented the progressive policies of NEP despite political differences. Therefore, I request you to rise above political differences and look at the matter overall keeping in mind the interest of our students. ‘ (With language input)
