Thane. Land is required to complete the development work. Especially for infrastructure related projects, the requirement of land is much greater, in such a situation it becomes necessary to free the government land from encroachment. If any religious structure is built on government land, then government agencies have to put in a lot of effort to remove it. Any action is taken only after thorough investigation, so that public sentiments are not aroused and the work is also done. A similar case has come to light in Thane, Maharashtra. CIDCO (City And Industrial Development Corporation) after all legal investigations, demolished an illegal Dargah built on government land with a bulldozer.
An allegedly illegally constructed dargah near the much-awaited international airport in Navi Mumbai was demolished on Thursday. A CIDCO official gave this information. The official said that this structure is located on the land of State Planning Authority, CIDCO and illegal constructions have taken place in it several times since 2011. “We started an investigation and the mutawalli (trustee) of the dargah could not produce valid documents for its ownership,” a CIDCO official said. The structure was demolished on the orders of the court after following all the prescribed procedures.
‘Enough of pirs, dargahs and temples’, High Court said on the petition related to Aashiq Allah Dargah – Be a human being
The area of the Dargah increased with time
Sunil Ghanwat, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, praised CIDCO’s move and said that it is a victory for their campaign against the Dargah. Ghanwat claimed that this long-awaited action is the result of the tireless efforts of the committee, which has been continuously campaigning against encroachment and illegal construction in sensitive and culturally important areas. The unauthorized dargah poses a security threat to the area around the airport. He told that it started with just four stones, later the complex, dome, water fountains, resting area etc. were expanded.
What did CIDCO say?
Earlier in October, CIDCO officials had said that the illegal dargah built near Navi Mumbai International Airport would be demolished after the assembly elections. The very next day after the completion of the assembly elections, CIDCO officials reached the spot with a bulldozer and allegedly demolished the Dargah built on government land. Let us tell you that illegal occupation of land often becomes an obstacle in the way of completing development projects. To remove it, legal and other steps have to be taken at the government and administration level.
