Starlink satellite internet service may start in India soon. Elon Musk’s company is currently providing satellite internet service in North America, Europe, Australia as well as some areas of South America and Asia. Starlink needs regulatory approval in India. The company has applied for this in October 2022 itself. Telecom regulator (TRAI) is soon going to finalize the auction process of satellite spectrum in India, after which satellite internet service will be launched. Apart from Starlink, companies like Airtel, Jio, Amazon are also waiting to launch satellite internet service in India.

Through Starlink satellite internet, superfast internet service will be provided to the users without any wires. Users will be able to make audio-video calling through internet from anywhere without any restriction. Indian telecom operators Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Vi are providing high speed broadband internet service to the users. Jio and Airtel users are also using 5G internet service, in which they get internet at superfast speed of 300 to 400 Mbps. At some places the internet speed is even reaching 700 Mbps. Now the question is whether Starlink will provide more internet speed than these two companies?

Elon Musk’s company is currently providing its satellite internet service in some countries. The company is providing internet facility to its users at speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 150 Mbps in the standard plan. At the same time, in the Priority Plan, users are getting internet at speeds up to 220 Mbps. Whereas, the upload speed ranges from 10 Mbps to 20 Mbps. Starlink’s internet speed may also vary depending on the location. However, even at this speed, users can do many things on the internet like HD streaming, online gaming and downloading large files etc.
Why is Starlink in discussion?
Starlink satellite internet service has been specially designed by the company for the users of country side areas. Through this, people living in those places can also access superfast internet, where it is difficult to install mobile towers or lay optical fiber lines. In Starlink satellite internet service, users have to install an antenna at their home. After this, high speed internet can be accessed through Starlink box.
