Four of the five semiconductor plants being set up in the country are being built in Dholera, Gujarat. Therefore, the state will now focus on the construction of hospitals, schools, cafeteria, food courts and other such buildings around the industrial areas. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupen Patel gave this information on Wednesday.
At the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) Vision Summit 2025 in Gandhinagar here, Patel said that the state has played a leading role in announcing electronics and semiconductor manufacturing policy. This is the reason that four of the five semiconductor plants being installed in India are being built in Dholera, Gujarat.
Earlier in the day, Sushil Pal, Chief Task Officer of India Semiconductor Mission, said that semiconductor manufacturing alone can achieve a total target of $ 500 billion or up to $ 100 billion in semocover and electronics manufacturing by 2030-31.
Pal said, “Electronics manufacturing is the most important category of manufacturing due to its market size, growth rate and more possible capacity of employment and is therefore the most trading item globally.”
He said that the government is also working on several policies to ensure that the entire ecosystem of suppliers of raw materials like semiconductor manufacturing chemicals and gas is present in the country. He said that the country has so far attracted an investment of $ 18 billion under the first phase of ISM.
PSMC will make the entire mechanism of semiconductor
Powerchip Semacist Manufacturing Corporation (PS MC) is actively working to bring semiconductor fab construction companies from Taiwan to make semiconductor ecosystem in India. The company’s president Martin Chu gave this information.
In the inaugural session of the four -day India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) Vision Summit 2025 in Gandhinagar, Chu said that India has created a welcome environment for international companies like PSMC that will develop an ecosystem that would be suited for innovation and investment. Chu said that PSCM is collaborating with the Tata group on several fronts. The company has partnered with India’s Tata Group to create the country’s first semi -conductor chip manufacturing unit in Dholera, Gujarat.
The Tata Group-PSMC joint venture is building a chip manufacturing plant with an investment of about $ 11 billion in Dholera, Gujarat. It is the only chip manufacturing plant in India so far, which has received approval of concessions and incentives from the Central and State Government under the Bharat Semiconductor Mission. Earlier on Wednesday, Tata Electronics and PSMC signed a consent letter with Taiwan’s Fabless Chip manufacturer Himax. Under this, Tata Electronics will make display chips for Himax from its Dholera factory which is currently under construction.
Tata Electronics CEO and MD Randhir Thakur said, “This agreement with Himax and PSMC will enable our common customers to develop different solutions for display -related semiconductor products.”
