Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested on March 3 at Campe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru with 14.2 kg of gold.

Kannada actress Ranya Rao told the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in her statement that I had learned to hide gold by watching YouTube videos. Ranya has been arrested in a gold smuggling case of Rs 14.2 crore.

Ranya also told that I used to get calls from unknown numbers for smuggling. This was the first time I brought Sona to Bangalore from Dubai.

According to Ranya, I bought crepe bandage and scissors at the airport to paste gold with my body. Gold was in two packets of plastic. To hide it, go to the toilet and stick gold biscuits to the body.

Gold was to hand over to an unknown person

Asked who had to give the gold of smuggling in Bengaluru, Ranya said, ‘I was asked to go to the service road after the airport toll gate to give gold to an unknown person. The signal had to keep gold in an auto rickshaw, but I did not have an auto rickshaw number. Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is trying to track the smuggling gang based on data from Ranya’s phone and laptop.

At the same time, Ranya refused to identify the caller with an unknown number. He said, ‘I am not completely sure who called me. The caller spoke in the African-American language. He immediately left after handing over the gold. I never met him again. The man was about 6 feet tall and fair. ‘

Government of Karnataka canceled CID investigation

Here, the Karnataka government canceled its instructions to investigate police officers’ lapse at Campe Gowda Airport on Wednesday i.e. March 12. The order of this inquiry was given on the night of 10 March.

Ranya was arrested with 14.2 kg of gold

Kannada actress Ranya Rao was arrested on March 3 at Campe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru with 14.2 kg of gold. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) said- Ranya went to Dubai 27 times a year.

Later a case of gold smuggling was registered against Ranya. Police also searched the luxurious apartment at Lavel Road, Ranya. Jewelery worth Rs 2.1 crore and Rs 2.7 crore cash was also recovered from here.

Ranya is in judicial custody till 24 March

Ranya Rao was produced in the Special Court on 11 March. The court has sent him to judicial custody till 24 March. Ranya accused DRI of harassment in court. She started crying in court. Ranya said- I am in shock and is emotionally broken.

Ranya Kannada has worked in the film Manikya and Patki. Ranya hid gold by putting tape on her body, thighs and waist. He used modified jackets and wrist belts to hide gold in clothes.

Sources claim that Ranya used to get 1 lakh rupees for bringing every kg of gold. In this way, he earned 12 to 13 lakh rupees in every trip. According to DRI officials, Ranya Rao returned to India from Dubai via Emirates Flight.

Had gone to Dubai 4 times in 15 days

Security agencies were already monitoring their activity, as they had gone to Dubai 4 times in the last 15 days. DRI’s Delhi team was already aware of Ranya’s involvement in gold smuggling. So on March 3, the officers reached the airport two hours before the land of his flight.

Trying to avoid custom through police

According to the information, Ranya described herself as the daughter of DGP of Karnataka as soon as he landed at the airport. Also tried to get out of the airport by contacting the local police, but DRI’s team took them to the DRI headquarters in Bangalore for questioning. Investigation revealed that Ranya was hiding gold in her clothes. He was detained at 7 pm on 3 March.

Smuggling in the name of business

During the investigation, Ranya claimed that she had gone to Dubai in connection with the business. However, DRI officials suspect that they may be part of a large network of smuggling. Now investigative agencies are trying to find out whether this happened for the first time or she has been involved in gold smuggling before.
