Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh has said that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has earned a revenue of $ 439 million from foreign satellite launch in the last 10 years. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Singh said, “From January 2015 to December 2024, a total of 393 foreign satellites and 3 Indian customers satellites have been launched on ISRO’s PSLV, LVM3 and SSLV launch vehicles on commercial basis.”
India launched satellites from 34 countries since 2014
The Union Minister said that the foreign exchange revenue generated by the government from the launch of foreign satellite during the same period is about 143 million dollars and 272 million euros. According to the current exchange rates, 272 million euros are equal to $ 296 million. The Union Minister informed that since 2014, India has launched satellites of 34 countries.
A total of 393 satellite launches including US 232
Among the total foreign satellites, America has 232 satellites, which is the highest. Other countries have 83 of the UK, 19 of Singapore, 8 in Canada, 5 in Korea, 4 of Luxembourg, 4 of Italy, 3 from Germany, 3 of Belgium, 3 of Belgium, 3 of France, 3 of France, 2 of Switzerland, 2 of Switzerland, 2 of Netherlands, 2 of Netherlands, 2 of Japan, 2 of Spain, 2, 1 of Australia, 1 of Austria and 1 of Austria 1.
The Union Minister also informed Parliament about ISRO’s cooperation with foreign space agencies in 61 countries. The Union Minister said, “Currently, space cooperation documents have been signed with 61 countries and five multilateral bodies. The major areas of cooperation are satellite remote sensing, satellite navigation, satellite communication, space science and planetary exploration and capacity construction.”
ISRO has partnered with NASA for a joint satellite mission, named ‘Nisar (NASA ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar)’, which is currently on its advance stage. With CNES (French National Space Agency), ISRO has collaborated for a joint satellite mission called ‘Trishna (Thermal Infrared Imaging Satellite for High-Resolution Natural Resource Assessment)’, which is in the initial stages.
The Space Agency has also made a practical study to realize a joint lunar Polar Exploration Mission with JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). Meanwhile, the Central Singh said that the government has increased the funding for India’s Human Spaceflight Mission, Gaganyaan program to Rs 20,193 crore.
