New Delhi: According to the analysis of Election Rights Body ADR, at least 45% of 4,092 MLAs have declared criminal cases against them. ‘The Association of Democratic Reforms’ (ADR) analyzed affidavits of 4,092 out of 4,123 MLAs from 28 states and three union territories. The affidavits of 24 MLAs could not be analyzed as they were poorly scanned or not readable. Seven seats are vacant in the assembly.

According to the latest ADR report, 1,861 MLAs have declared criminal cases against them. Of these, 1,205 MLAs have serious criminal charges, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and crime against women. According to ADR analysis, Andhra Pradesh is at the top of this list, whose 138 MLAs (79%) have declared criminal cases against them. This is followed by Kerala and Telangana, where 69-69 percent of the MLAs have declared criminal cases against them.

How many MLAs of which party criminal cases?

According to ADR analysis, 39 percent of the 1,653 BJP MLAs or 638 have declared criminal cases. Of these, 436 (26 percent) are facing serious allegations. According to ADR analysis, 339 (52 percent) out of 646 Congress MLAs have declared criminal cases, in which 194 (30 percent) are facing serious allegations. According to ADR analysis, 74 percent (98 out of 132) MLAs of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu have criminal cases registered, out of which 42 are serious allegations. In West Bengal, 95 MLAs (out of 230) of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) are facing criminal cases. Of these, 78 are serious allegations. According to ADR analysis, 69 (56 percent) out of 123 MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have criminal cases. Of these, 35 (28 percent) are serious allegations. According to ADR analysis, Samajwadi Party has 110 MLAs and 68 (62 percent) of them have criminal cases registered. According to ADR analysis, 48 ​​(44 percent) of these have serious crime cases.
