The controversy over the Neja fair in memory of Abdul Salar Ghazi, nephew of Mahmud Ghaznavi in Sambhal, is increasing. On Tuesday, the police closed the pit with cement before the start of the fair.
Where the fair is held, a large number of forces are deployed. Drone is being monitored. ASP (Northern) Srischandra and CO Anuj Chaudhary also conducted a flag march with PAC-RRF personnel.
ASP said- It was a wrong tradition. It is not right to continue wrong traditions. Abdul Salar Masood Ghazi was the real nephew of Mahmud Ghaznavi and came to India with the intention of looting. In his memory, it is not appropriate to bury the flag.
At the same time, SP MLA Iqbal Mahmood reacted strongly to this decision. Said- The government belongs to Yogiji, if the order comes from there that the fair will not be held, then the officials will follow it. But this tradition is hundreds of years old. No one can finish it.

SP MLA said- This tradition cannot be ended
SP MLA Iqbal Mahmood expressed displeasure over the ASP statement. Said- This fair is part of hundreds of years old tradition. It cannot be finished. The administration should understand its historical importance.
This fair was held even before the independence of India. Last year, it was postponed only because of Ramadan, but now there is no justification for closing it. The Neja Mela is not limited to Sambhal, but it has a historical relationship with Nauchandi Meerut.
The government is of Yogiji, if the order comes from there that the fair will not be held, then the officials will follow it. But this tradition is not one or two years old, but hundreds of years old. No one can finish it.

Why the dispute broke out on the fair
ASP of Sambhal was meeting with the fair committee on Monday regarding the Neja fair to be held in memory of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi. He clearly told the committee- in any case, a fair will not be allowed to be held in the name of the robber.
He said- The fair will not be organized in the name of the person who looted the country. If anyone took out a rally for the shield of Neja fair (green flag), then it will be called a traitor. If the fair is to be held, talk to the magistrate.

Why Neja Fair seems
Neja Mela seems to be in memory of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi, nephew of Mahmud Ghaznavi. Salar Masood was also the commander of Ghaznavi. Mahmud Ghaznavi targeted several major Hindu pilgrimage centers including Somnath Temple between 1000 and 1027 AD. He is counted among the most cruel rulers in the world.
According to historians, when Prithviraj Chauhan’s capital was Sambhal, there was a war between his army and Ghaznavi’s army. Many Ghaznavi soldiers were killed in it, whose tomb was built in Sambhal. Later, Neja fair started to be held at these places.
People from far and wide come to this fair and ask for prayers. The brides sit in a religious ritual. Women appreciate their makeup.
