The IPL match between KKR and LSG will be played in Guwahati on 6 April.

The IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) will now be played in Guwahati. Earlier the match was to be played on 6 April at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. However, Kolkata Police refused to provide security on this day due to Ram Navami.

The Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) gave this information. The 19th match of the season between KKR-LSG will be held on April 6, but Venue will be at Barspara Stadium in Guwahati instead of Kolkata. However, BCCI has not given official information about the venue shift. Rajasthan Royals also have to play 2 matches in Guwahati.

65,000 viewers difficult to handle- CAB president

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had told that more than 20 thousand processions will come out in West Bengal on Ram Navami. Therefore, there will be a need to keep tight security in the entire state. After which the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Snehashish Ganguly said, “We had 2 meetings with the police, but could not get the green signal for the match.” Lack of security would make it difficult to handle the crowd of 65,000 spectators in the match. So the match will now be shifted to Guwahati.

There will also be an opening match of the tournament at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.

KKR’s match was also ahead last season also

In KKR’s home match, the second consecutive season Ramnavami faced problems. Last year, the team’s match against Rajasthan Royals was to be held on the day of Ram Navami on 17 April. The police still refused to provide security, due to which the date of the match was extended.

Guwahati is the second homeground of Rajasthan Royals

There are already 2 matches of IPL of this season in Guwahati. The Barspara Stadium here is the second homeground of the Rajasthan Royals team. The team will take on Kolkata Knight Riders here on 26 March and Chennai Super Kings on 30 March. A relationship between Kolkata and Lucknow will be played in Guwahati 6 days after this match.

4 matches of IPL have been played at Barspara Stadium in Guwahati. There will be 3 more matches in the 18th season.

KKR will land under Rahane’s captaincy

The KKR will field this season with its new captain Ajinkya Rahane. Last year, the team won the title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. This year he was bought by Punjab Kings in the mega auction. The opening match of this season between KKR and RCB will be played at Eden Gardens itself. The opening ceremony will include singer Shreya Ghoshal and actress Disha Patani.
