BCCI launches Team India’s new ODI jersey: Tricolor shade on three shoulder straps; Women’s team will wear jersey against West Indies

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) launched the new ODI jersey of Team India on Friday. During this, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur were also present. This jersey is made by the famous German sportswear company Adidas.

Team India’s previous jersey was completely blue and had three Adidas stripes on the shoulders. This time the three Adidas stripes on the shoulder have been given the shade of the tricolor. The blue color of this jersey is slightly lighter than the previous jersey but it has been given a darker color on the sides.

BCCI has shared the video of the new jersey on X and Instagram. Harmanpreet Kaur said about the new jersey, ‘It is an honor for me that the new jersey was launched in my presence. I am quite happy with its looks. Especially the tricolor on the shoulder.

Women’s team will wear new jersey against West Indies

The women’s team will wear the new jersey for the first time against West Indies. West Indies team will visit India in December. A series of 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches will be played between India and West Indies. The T20 series will start from December 15. All the matches of this series will be played in Mumbai. The ODI series will start from December 22. All the matches of this series will be played in Vadodara.

After this the team will tour Australia for a 3-match ODI series. The first ODI between India and Australia will be played on 5 December and the second on 8 December. Both these matches will be played in Brisbane. The third match will be played in Perth on 11 December.

ODI World Cup also in 2025

Women’s ODI World Cup is also to be held in India in 2025. The tournament will be played in round robin format between September and October. Only 8 teams including India will participate in this. Australia is the defending champion of the tournament and is also the team that has won the title 7 times.

Men’s team will be seen in New Jersey in January next year

The Indian men’s team will first be seen in this jersey against England in January 2025. Initially, a series of 3 T20 matches will be played between India and England. After this, Team India will also be seen in this jersey in the Champions Trophy to be held in February-March.

Jerseys of all three formats were launched last year

Team India had made sports brand Adidas the kit sponsor last year. After which the company itself released a video and released three different designed jerseys for the three formats.

Jersey changed before T20 World Cup

Team India was seen in new jersey in the T20 World Cup held in West Indies and USA. Kit sponsor Adidas had created a new designed blue jersey. In which there was a combination of orange color. At the same time, the V-shaped collar had the color of the tricolor.

Contract with Adidas till 2028

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has signed a contract with Adidas till 2028. During the Cricket World Cup from 1992 to 1999, the jerseys of the Indian cricket team were made by Asics. After this, the cricket team had no sponsor till 2005. In December 2005, Nike signed a five-year contract. After this, Nike signed contracts in 2011 and 2016 also. In 2020, Nike terminated his contract.

MPL replaced Nike in 2020. MPL’s agreement with BCCI was till the end of 2023, but the company decided to terminate the contract midway. After this Killer became the kit sponsor of Team India.
