“Even IIM graduates…”, former Delhi Capitals assistant coach reveals what went wrong with Prithvi Shaw

New Delhi:

Reason why Pritvhi Shaw wasn’t sold: In the Indian Premier League mega auction (IPL 2025 mega auction) held last day, there were not just one or two, but many such things which were very surprising. Some players were showered with lavish amounts of money, while others were much less than expected. Some people’s car didn’t even start! Meaning no franchise placed bets on him. And the most talked about person in this is Prithvi Shaw, who made a great debut a few years ago at the age of just 18. It was true that Prithvi would get a comparatively lesser amount, but no one had even thought that he would find no buyer. There is a continuous discussion about Prithvi, people close to him are giving their opinion about Shaw. And now former Indian batsman Praveen Amre, who worked with Prithvi for many years in Delhi Capitals, while talking to a newspaper, has explained in detail what went wrong with this batsman in the auction. Amre pointed out that being a cricketer, he could not control the fame and other things properly.

Amre said, “Three years ago I had given him the example of Vinod Kambli. I have seen Vinod’s decline very closely. It is not an easy task to teach certain things to the present generation.” He said, “In recent years Thanks to Delhi for retaining him. And by the age of 23, Prithvi has earned Rs 30-40 crore. Will even an IIM graduate be able to earn such a huge amount?”

Amre said, “When you earn so much money at such a young age, it is natural for you to lose focus. It is very important that you know how to manage money, make good friends and enjoy cricket.” “It is very disappointing to see a talented player like him going through such a situation,” the former batsman said. Someone told me that in the practice match before leaving for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scored a century. Even today in IPL, Pachasa can hit a fifty in 30 balls, but he could not handle the side-effects of IPL like money and fame well.”

Recently bought a penthouse

Prithvi Shaw recently bought a penthouse in Bandra, one of the posh areas of Mumbai. Prithvi saw a lot of success in the beginning of his career till the age of 25. However, during this period he remained out of the Indian team for most of the time. There were some controversies associated with him, which definitely troubled him a lot, but by this age, Shaw had earned a good amount of money in IPL. Amre believes that after the 2018 Under-19 World Cup title win, he got a good contract from Delhi Capitals. But after getting success, he got a little carried away with it. This instilled discipline in his game. Amre also gave Shaw the example of Kambli, but this also did not help.
