Washington: America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has claimed that America is giving subsidies of $ 100 billion and $ 300 billion to its two neighboring countries, Canada and Mexico. He said that if this is so then these two countries should become a part of America. Trump (78) has threatened that if Canada and Mexico do not stop the flow of illegal immigrants from their respective territories into America, he will impose heavy tariffs on both the countries.
‘Why are we giving subsidy?’
Trump said in an interview with NBC News, “We are giving more than 100 billion US dollars in subsidies to Canada every year.” We are giving subsidies to Mexico amounting to approximately US$300 billion. We should not give subsidy. Why are we giving subsidies to these countries? If we are subsidizing them, they should become a state (of America).
‘It won’t make any difference to Americans’
Trump refuted the comments of some American CEOs that the tariffs will harm America and increase the prices of common goods, which will increase the pressure on the common people. “It won’t make any difference to Americans,” he said. He created a great economy for us. If we face problems related to war and other things like tariffs, I would like to respond to the war with tariffs. I would say that if you people want to fight, then it is good that you fight. But, both of you will pay 100 percent of the duty to the US. If used properly, fees serve many purposes. I’m not saying you should use them like crazy. I say use them properly.
