The leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha said, “If the Prime Minister really has respect for Baba Saheb Ambedkar, he should immediately dismiss the Home Minister.”

3. Uproar in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha

After Amit Shah’s statement, the protests did not stop in both the houses of Parliament. As soon as the Lok Sabha proceedings began on Wednesday, opposition parties created a huge ruckus. The MPs raised loud slogans and alleged that the Union Home Minister had deliberately insulted the name of Ambedkar. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm. When the House resumed, the opposition’s protests continued again, due to which the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 11 am the next day.

At the same time, the situation in Rajya Sabha was no less serious. Opposition parties alleged that Shah’s statement was beyond facts and he deliberately tried to negate the contribution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. After this, the proceedings of Rajya Sabha also had to be adjourned twice.

4. Home Minister’s clarification

Responding to the allegations, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that his statement has been distorted. Shah clarified his point and said that he had not insulted Ambedkar in any way. His statement was only aimed at Congress leaders who take political advantage of Ambedkar’s name, while Shah also said that he never left any stone unturned in appreciating the contribution of Baba Saheb.

5. Kiren Rijiju’s counterattack

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also attacked Congress and said that Congress has always tried to deny the contribution of Ambedkar. He alleged that Congress has tried to give political color to the statement by raising only a small part of it. Rijiju said that Congress always used Ambedkar for its political gains and now the opposition parties are just doing politics by taking his name.
