‘Bihar Business Connect’ Encouraged by the strong response received from domestic and foreign companies, Bihar’s Industry and Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra said, ‘Now is our time.’ He said that I think the myth that people had about Bihar (that the state is less favorable for investors) has been busted. Now we have control. Now, under the leadership of (Chief Minister) Nitish Kumar, a new Bihar is emerging and I am absolutely positive that when these MoUs are converted into projects in the coming years, they will have a huge impact. He said these things after Bihar received investment proposals worth a record Rs 1.81 lakh crore in its second investors conference.

Focus on fulfilling promises made to investors

Mishra said that now our focus will be on providing support for all the promises made with the investors, so that the units can start up soon. Mishra said that I am personally very happy and satisfied, and I am grateful to my team in the Industries Department, which has been working hard over the last few months, organizing a series of events in different states, to engage the business community. Is in talks with Bihar, is making efforts for the benefit of Bihar.” Last week, at the second edition of ‘Bihar Business Connect’ investor conference, the state signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with several companies with investment commitments worth Rs 1.81 lakh crore. He said that to be honest, we too did not expect such figures. From now on a new Bihar will emerge. After the huge success of the conference, the investor community has started seeing Bihar as an attractive destination for private capital also.

423 companies gave consent to invest in Bihar

The state, which was considered backward till now, signed investment commitments with 423 companies in its second investor conference ‘Bihar Business Connect-2024’ on December 19-20. Mishra said investment commitments worth Rs 50,300 crore were received in the first edition of the investors summit in 2023. Mishra’s CEO style of functioning has played a significant role in bringing about a change in perception about the state as an investment destination. Bihar now has the best infrastructure – from roads and highways to 24-hour electricity, industrial parks and special economic zones (SEZs).

MoUs signed in sectors ranging from energy to tourism

He said MoUs were signed in sectors ranging from energy to tourism, information technology to food processing and many more. ‘Bihar is a place where you will get maximum opportunities for growth.’ “Now is our time,” he said. Mishra said the focus will now be on converting the MoUs into projects as per the requisite clearances and approvals.
