BPSC Students Protest: The controversy has intensified regarding lathi charge on the candidates demanding cancellation of 70th PT examination of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Political rhetoric has started on this incident. Opposition party leaders are targeting the government on this issue. RJD chief and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Yadav termed this incident as wrong and said that there should not be lathicharge on students. When journalists questioned him on this incident on Thursday, he said, “This is wrong, there should not be lathicharge on students.” During the incident, the candidates had come to surround the BPSC office with their demands, where the police used force. Many students were injured in the lathicharge, and some suffered serious injuries. The students allege that the police chased them and beat them. His demand was that the problems related to the examination should be resolved. Leaders of opposition parties have supported the students on this incident. Independent MP from Purnia Pappu Yadav also termed the demands of the students as legitimate and appealed to the government to take immediate action. He warned that if the demands of the students were not met, then Bihar Bandh would be called on January 1. Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav has written a letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar demanding cancellation of the examination and re-conducting it. In his letter, he wrote that incidents of misconduct have come to light in the 70th preliminary examination held on December 13. He termed canceling the examination at Bapu Examination Center in Patna and conducting re-examination only there as a superficial measure. He said, “This is an attempt to hide the corruption prevalent in government appointment processes.” Tejashwi Yadav also demanded that the BPSC re-examination should be conducted in one day, one shift, one paper and in a uniform pattern, so that problems like paper leaks can be avoided. He expressed hope that the government will solve the problems of the candidates as soon as possible. This entire issue has sparked heated debate in political and social circles in Bihar, and the candidates are adamant about their demands. Now it remains to be seen what action the government takes on this.
