Supreme Court’s blow to Ram Rahim: Notice in Ranjeet murder case; Sadhvis were murdered on suspicion of letters, were acquitted by the High Court – Rohtak News

Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim is lodged in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail.

Ram Rahim, head of Dera Sacha Sauda based in Sirsa, Haryana, has received a big blow from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has accepted the petition filed against the acquittal in the murder case of Dera manager Ranjit. After which notice has been issued to Ram Rahim.

Punjab and Haryana High Court had acquitted Ram Rahim and his co-accused in the Ranjeet murder case in 2002. The Chief Justice’s bench has handed over this case to the bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi for hearing.

Ranjeet was murdered 22 years ago. In which, after 19 years, Ram Rahim and his associates were sentenced by the Special Court of CBI located in Panchkula. He went to the High Court against this, from where he was acquitted after 3 years.

1. Left the camp after being hurt by the letter of sexual harassment Ranjit Singh was the manager of Dera Sacha Sauda in the year 2002. Ranjit Singh was a resident of Kurukshetra. His entire family was also associated with the camp. Everything was going well when suddenly an anonymous letter created an uproar in Dera Sachcha Sauda. That anonymous letter revealed the sexual exploitation of a Sadhvi.

As soon as the letter came to light, questions started being raised on Dera Sacha Sauda. Ranjit Singh was hurt after allegations of sexual exploitation in the camp came to light. Due to this issue, he had resigned from the post of manager of the camp. Along with him, his family members also got separated from the camp.

2. Was shot on suspicion of anonymous letter The case of murder of Ranjit Singh was related to this anonymous letter, in which allegations of sexual exploitation of sadhvis in the camp were made. This letter was sent to the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. After investigation, CBI had told the court that Ram Rahim suspected that Ranjeet was behind the anonymous letter.

Ranjit’s sister was also mentioned in this letter. After this letter came to light, Ranjit was called to the camp. Where he was warned of facing serious consequences. However, Ranjit said that he had no role behind this letter. After which he was murdered.

After this he was punished and the accused were acquitted by the High Court.

3. Murder 22 years ago, convicted after 19 years, acquitted after 3 years Dera manager Ranjit Singh, resident of Kurukshetra, was shot dead on 10 July 2002. There was a police investigation, but the camp was given a clean chit. Dissatisfied with the police investigation, Ranjit Singh’s son Jagseer Singh had filed a petition in the Punjab and High Court in January 2003 demanding a CBI investigation.

Although, initially Ram Rahim’s name was not in this case, but in the year 2003 the investigation was handed over to CBI. Then in 2006, the Dera chief was included on the statement of Ram Rahim’s driver Khatta Singh. In this case, the court had framed charges against the accused in 2007.

After 19 years, in October 2021, 5 accused including Dera Mukhi were convicted. After which the Special CBI Court of Panchkula sentenced Ram Rahim and 4 other accused Avtar Singh, Krishna Lal, Jasbir Singh and Sabdil Singh to life imprisonment. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 31 lakh was also imposed on Ram Rahim, Rs 1.5 lakh on Sabdil Singh, Rs 1.25 lakh each on Jasbir Singh and Krishna Lal and Rs 75 thousand on Avtar Singh.

After this Ram Rahim went to the High Court against the sentencing decision. From where Ram Rahim was acquitted by the High Court on May 28, 2024, 3 years after the punishment received from the CBI Court of Panchkula.

4. High Court had raised questions on the method of investigation by CBI and police. The High Court gave a 163 page verdict in this case. In which questions have been raised on the method of investigation by CBI and police. The High Court said that the revolver from which the police and the investigating agency had said that the shot was fired, was stored in the armory at the time of the incident. Its use was also not confirmed in the forensic report. Apart from this, the car in which the murderers had come was also not found by the investigating agency. Eyewitnesses had said that there were four people in the car, they had weapons. Not a single weapon was recovered during the investigation.

The High Court further said that the statement of Khatta Singh, former driver of Ram Rahim, who was the most important witness in the case, is not trustworthy. The investigating officers put pressure on Khatta Singh and recorded his statement against the accused. The investigating agency said that after the murder, the accused celebrated at Kashish restaurant. It was not investigated. Statements of the restaurant owner or employees were not taken. The High Court had also said that it seemed that the officers were influenced by the media glare during the investigation.

5. The one who printed the letter was also murdered The same letter written regarding sexual exploitation of sadhvis was later published by Sirsa journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati in his newspaper. After this, journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati was shot on 24 October. The journalist was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi. Where he died on 21 November. Ram Rahim was also accused of Chhatrapati’s murder. In which case he is still serving 19 years of imprisonment in jail.

Apart from Ranjeet murder case, Ram Rahim is serving jail sentence in these two cases.

2 more cases going on against Ram Rahim…

1. Case of making 400 devotees impotent Gurmeet Ram Rahim is also accused of making 400 devotees impotent. An FIR was registered against Ram Rahim in 2015 on the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court. On February 1, 2018, CBI filed a charge sheet against Ram Rahim. Two doctors including MP Singh and Pankaj Garg have also been made accused in this case. This case is under trial in Panchkula CBI Court.

2. Case of hurting religious sentiments Ram Rahim is also accused of imitating Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji by dressing up in a program at the camp in Salabatpura village of Bathinda. In 2007, a case was registered against Ram Rahim for hurting Sikh sentiments. In 2014, he was acquitted by a court in Bathinda. The revision petition was filed again in 2015. The case is pending in Punjab and Haryana High Court.
