“What were they doing…” Sunil Gavaskar raised questions on Gautam Gambhir and his staff after India’s defeat.

Sunil Gavaskar, Border Gavaskar Trophy: India had to face 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. With this defeat, the Indian team’s dream of reaching the final of the World Test Championship was also shattered. As soon as Australia won the Sydney Test, it qualified for the finals. Now the World Test Championship final will be played between South Africa and Australia at Lord’s. After India’s defeat, Gautam Gambhir and his team are under the scanner. Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has also now raised questions on Gambhir and Company and said that the time has come when questions should be asked to them.

Ever since Gautam Gambhir took over as the head coach of the Indian team after Rahul Dravid, India has had to face many embarrassing defeats. Under Gambhir’s tenure as coach, India had earlier faced a clean sweep in the ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. After this, the Indian team had to face a clean sweep defeat for the first time in a three-Test series against New Zealand at home. New Zealand’s defeat was a huge blow to India’s chances of reaching the Test Championship final. Now India has lost 1-3 against Australia.

Speaking to India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said that questions should be asked to head coach Gautam Gambhir and his support staff. Gavaskar said, “I don’t know about the merit of having different coaches. It’s something, you know, we need to look at, not now, but in a different scenario. But certainly there is a need for them (Gambhir ) And questions should be asked from their coaching staff. What were they doing that we got into this situation that we are losing, losing, losing? “

Gavaskar further said, “We have lost against New Zealand in India when we should not have lost. The batting there was quite normal. The batting here has been quite normal. So I believe that I think about this. “Questions need to be asked.”

Sunil Gavaskar also questioned Morne Morkel’s role for lack of proper planning against Travis Head and Pat Cummins. He said that despite the requests of the whole world, the Indian team did not bowl short balls to these two.

Gavaskar raised questions, “Our bowling could have been better. We had just two bowlers. But at times, things, not only us, but also the Australians were talking about what kind of balls should be bowled to Travis Head. “To Pat Cummins, nothing of that sort was attempted, so, you ask the bowling coach what was happening?”

Gavaskar further said, “If the bowling coach said that he had also asked the bowlers to do this, and the bowlers did not do it, then you need to question the bowlers. Why were short balls not tried against the head?” “Why were shot balls not used against Pat Cummins? You know, there are a lot of questions that can be asked.”

After the six-wicket defeat in Sydney, Gambhir said that he wants every player of the team to play domestic cricket. Sunil Gavaskar has also made a similar demand. Without naming the senior players, Gavaskar said, “Okay, we will find out if it is a sham. There is some domestic cricket to be played in the next 15 days. We will find out if what the coach wants actually happens and What do players do? There are some players who have cemented their place, thinking that they cannot be dropped no matter what. Let’s see if they listen to the coach and play. See more.”
