Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Nigeria on Sunday on the invitation of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Here let us tell you that during this tour he will visit three countries and in the first phase he has reached Nigeria. Let us tell you that this is the first visit of any Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria in 17 years. In a post on Twitter late last night, the Ministry of External Affairs said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Abuja, Nigeria. Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike warmly welcomed him. He also handed over the keys of Abuja city to PM Modi. This key is a symbol of the trust and respect given to PM Modi by the people of Nigeria.
Along with this, the Ministry of External Affairs also shared pictures of the Prime Minister’s welcome to the country. PM Modi himself responded to the post made by Tinubu on X in which the Nigerian President had said that he was looking forward to welcoming the Indian Prime Minister. In his post, Tinubu wrote, “The aim of our bilateral discussions will be to expand the strategic partnership between the two countries and enhance cooperation in important areas. Prime Minister Modi, welcome to Nigeria.”

Responding to this post of the Nigerian President, PM Modi has shared pictures of himself getting off the plane upon his arrival and greeting the dignitaries and people gathered at the airport. In his post, he wrote, “Thank you, President Tinubu. I have just arrived in Nigeria some time ago. I am grateful for the warm welcome. I wish that this visit will further strengthen the bilateral friendship between our countries.”

Let us tell you that this is PM Modi’s first visit to the West African region. He is on a five-day visit to Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana. PM Modi will go to Brazil from Nigeria. In his statement, PM Modi had said, “I am also looking forward to meeting the Indian community and friends of Nigeria, who have sent me warm welcome messages in Hindi.” PM Modi also said that “This will be an opportunity to further strengthen our strategic partnership based on shared belief in democracy and pluralism.”
He will also attend the 19th G20 summit in Brazil as a Troika member. Apart from this, PM Modi will attend the summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro on 18 and 19 November along with Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden. Let us tell you here that India is a part of the G20 Troika along with Brazil and South Africa.
In the third and final leg of his visit, PM Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21 at the invitation of President Mohammad Irfan Ali. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in more than 50 years.
