A major Naxalite attack has taken place in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. On Monday, Naxalites carried out an IED blast targeting an armored vehicle of security forces. Bastar Range IG has confirmed this attack. According to initial information, 9 soldiers have been martyred in this attack. While many soldiers are said to be injured. The attack was so powerful that the security forces’ vehicle was broken into pieces. Some pieces got stuck on the branches of trees.

IG Bastar P Sundarraj said, “The operation was going on in Bijapur, Dantewada and Narayanpur for the last two-three days. After completing the operation, these security forces were returning to the base camp today. During this time, an IED was blasted near Ambeli village. An armored vehicle of the security forces got hit by it.” According to IG Bastar, 8 Dantewada DRG (District Reserve Guard) soldiers have been martyred in the Naxalite attack in Bijapur. The driver has also died in the attack.

ADG (Naxal Operation) Vivekananda Sinha said that the Naxalites attacked at around 2:15 pm. IED blasted on Kutur road of Bijapur. The vehicle of security forces which was targeted by Naxalites had more than 9 soldiers on board. Security forces also retaliated.

Bijapur, Sukma, Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Gariaband, Dhamtari, Mahasamund, Kawardha, Abujhmad and Balrampur are considered hard core Naxal affected areas. More than 60 thousand soldiers are deployed for the security of these districts.

Officials said that two women were also among the Naxalites killed in the encounter. District Reserve Guard (DRG) and STF personnel were involved in the operation launched on Friday in Narayanpur, Bastar, Kondagaon and Dantewada. The slain Naxalites have not been identified yet.

June 8th– 6 Naxalites were killed in Amdai area of ​​Abujhmad.
17th July– 12 Naxalites were killed in an encounter on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border.
18th July– Security forces killed a female Naxalite in an encounter in Dantewada.
20th JulyEncounter took place in Jagargunda of Sukma. 7 Naxalites were killed in this.
29 August– An encounter took place on Narayanpur-Kanker border, in which 3 women Naxalites were killed.
