Preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 have been finalized. Mahakumbh is starting with the royal bath on 13 January. According to Prayagraj administration, crores of devotees are going to take a dip of faith in this year’s Mahakumbh. For the convenience of the devotees, all kinds of facilities are being provided at Gangaghat in Prayagraj. Even though there are still a few days left for Maha Kumbh to begin, the crowd of devotees who have registered their presence on this auspicious occasion has already started reaching Prayagraj. Mothers and sisters from different parts of the country have reached the ghat with bundles of straw on their heads and their belongings. Looking at her, it seems as if she does not want to let go of this opportunity of seeing Mother Ganga and purifying herself with its water even for a single day on this occasion of Kumbh.
Kalpavasis have started reaching Kumbh
Lakhs and crores of devotees are moving towards the ghat of Prayagraj every day to participate in Mahakumbh. Among the devotees who reach Prayagraj, the number of Kalpavasi devotees is also very high. It is said that the importance of Kalpvas increases during the Kumbh Mela. It has also been mentioned in the Vedas and Puranas. Let us tell you that Kalpavas is not an easy process.
What is Kalpavas?
Kalpvashi who reach Mahakumbh will stay on the banks of Sangam for the next one month. It is being told that some devotees will start Kalpvas from Makar Sankranti also. Let us tell you that in the Vedas, Kalpavas is considered a means of spiritual development for humans. This practice of attaining virtuous results by staying on the banks of Sangam for the entire month of Magh is called Kalpavas. It is said that the person doing Kalpvas gets the desired results and also gets freedom from the bondages of birth after birth. According to Vedas and Puranas, the minimum duration of doing Kalpvas can be one night. Whereas, it can be done for three nights, three months, six It can be done for months, six years, 12 years or even for life.
After all, what are the rules of Kalpavas?
It is said in the Vedas that a person observing Kalpavas for 45 days has to follow 21 rules. Under this, the first rule is truthfulness, second non-violence, third control on senses, fourth kindness to all living beings, fifth adherence to celibacy, sixth giving up of addictions, seventh waking up in Brahma Muhurta, eighth regularly bathing in the holy river, ninth Trikal Sandhya, Tenth offering Pind Daan to ancestors, eleventh donation, twelfth inward chanting, thirteenth satsang, fourteenth not going outside the resolved area, The fifteenth is to condemn anyone, the sixteenth is to serve the saints, the seventeenth is chanting and sankirtan, the eighteenth is to eat at one time, the nineteenth is to sleep on the ground, the twentieth is not to consume fire and the twenty-first is to worship God. Of these, celibacy, fasting, worship of God, satsang and charity are considered to be of greatest importance.
How to start Kalpavas
It is told in the Vedas and Puranas that by following Kalpavas, both the conscience and the body can be rejuvenated. On the first day of Kalpvas, Tulsi and Shaligram are established and worshipped. The person doing Kalpavas plants barley seeds near his place of residence. When this time limit is reached, they take this plant with them. Whereas Tulsi is thrown into the Ganga. It is said in the Puranas that even the gods take the rare birth of a human being and spend their Kalpavas in Prayag. It is said that for those who control their senses and take bath, meditate and meditate here for a month, their place in heaven is already secured.
