PCB on Monday announced the appointment of Aaqib Javed as interim head coach.
Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed has been made the interim coach of Pakistan’s white ball cricket team till Champions Trophy-2025. PCB announced the appointment of Javed as coach on Monday. The board issued a statement saying that Javed will also continue to work as a selector. In such a situation, he will have to handle double responsibility.
52-year-old former fast bowler Javed will replace Australia’s Gary Kirsten. After Kirsten’s resignation, the post of white ball coach was vacant. Javed is working as a convener of the team’s selection committee.
Through this post, PCB announced the appointment of Aaqib Javed as interim head coach.
Gillespie will be the coach of the Test team in South Africa tour PCB said that Red Ball head coach Jason Gillespie had coached the team during the recent Australia tour. He will now join the team for the upcoming two-Test series in Africa.
A day earlier, reports had claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board was going to remove Gillespie, although the board did not deny the reports.
Pakistan will host tri series before Champions Trophy Pakistan team is to play a series of 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches in Zimbabwe this month. This series will run from 24 November to 5 December. Then the team will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20s in South Africa between 10-22 December. Not only this, Pakistan will also host an ODI tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa from 8-14 February before the Champions Trophy 2025.
