The statement of the party’s national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee has come amid the discussion on handing over the command of ‘India’ alliance to West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee. He said that the India alliance will discuss this issue. Mamata Banerjee is the senior-most leader, this is her third term as Chief Minister and she has also previously been a Union Minister. Therefore there should be a detailed discussion on this. No party should be considered small. TMC is the only party in the India alliance, which has defeated Congress along with BJP. This shows his strength.
Commenting on the atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh, Abhishek Banerjee said, “Our government strongly condemns this atrocities and the central government should take a strong stand on it. On what the Foreign Secretary talked about during his visit There should be clarity. He should answer this in Parliament. The Foreign Minister should give a statement on this issue.”
Sharp reaction on ‘One Nation, One Election’
Abhishek Banerjee gave a sharp reaction on ‘One Nation, One Election’. He said, “In West Bengal, elections were held in seven phases in 2024 and assembly elections were held in eight phases in 2021. If you are holding elections in 7-8 phases, then how can elections be held simultaneously for 140 crore people in the entire country? Maybe? This is a matter of snatching away the rights of the people. This right has been given to 140 crore Indian citizens, if I vote three-four times in five years. The accountability of the government remains. This bill is an attempt to take away the rights of the people and as long as there is opposition, we will not allow it to be passed.”
Also spoke on Omar Abdullah’s statement on EVM
At the same time, Abhishek Banerjee said about Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement on EVMs, “Those who raise questions on EVMs, if they have something then they should show the demo to the Election Commission. If EVM randomization is done properly. And the people working at the booth do proper checks during the mock poll and counting, so I don’t think there is any merit in this allegation if anyone thinks that EVMs are hacked. If possible, then they should meet the Election Commission and explain how EVMs can be hacked. Nothing can be achieved just by making absurd statements.” Let us tell you that Omar Abdullah had said regarding EVM that Congress should stop blaming its weaknesses on EVM.
