Delhi Capitals ;co-owner Parth Jindal on Tuesday expressed grief over Rishabh Pant’s separation from the team and also expressed hope that they will come together again in the future. Delhi had ‘released’ (not retaining) Captain Pant before the mega auction of IPL. Pant was bought by Lucknow Supergiants for a record Rs 27 crore. Delhi also tried to take back Pant by using Right to Match but could not match Lucknow’s last bid.

 

JSW Sports and GMR are co-owners of the team. Pant included himself in the auction after differences with the team. Jindal said, “It is sad to see you go and I am very emotional about it. You will always be a part of Delhi Capitals and hopefully one day we will be together again.” He wrote, “Thank you Rishabh. Remember that we will always love you. Conquer the world. Best wishes from Delhi Capitals.”

Let us tell you, India’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction on Sunday. There was a fierce competition between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow for Pant. Lucknow made the last bid of Rs 27 crore and Delhi Capitals did not use the Right to Match card.

Delhi Capitals acquired a balanced mix of international and domestic players on the first day of the auction. Their list includes KL Rahul (14 crore), Mitchell Starc (11.75 crore), Jake Fraser-McGurk (9 crore- RTM), Harry Brook (6.25 crore), T Natarajan (10.75 crore), Karun Nair (50 lakh), Sameer Rizvi (95 lakh), Ashutosh Sharma (3.80 crore) and Mohit Sharma (2.20 crore).

On the second day of the auction, the Delhi-based franchise bought former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis (Rs 2 crore), India fast bowler Mukesh Kumar (Rs 8 crore – RTM) and Sri Lankan bowler Dushmantha Chameera (Rs 75 lakh) as well as domestic all-rounder Added Darshan Nalkande (Rs 30 lakh) and Vipraj Nigam (Rs 50 lakh).

They also bought South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Donovan Ferreira (Rs 75 lakh), India’s Ajay Mandal (Rs 30 lakh), Mawant Kumar (Rs 30 lakh), Tripura Vijay (Rs 30 lakh) and Acquired uncapped players like Madhav Tiwary (Rs 40 lakh).
