Adani Ports handle a record 39.9 million metric tonnes in January

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) handled the highest 39.9 million metric tons (MMT) cargo in January this year. This is 13 percent more than last year. In this achievement, container cargo recorded 32 per cent increase and 18 per cent in fluid and gas. This information was given by APSEZ on Tuesday.

This major port of Adani Group handled a total of 372.2 MMT cargo in January 2025. This is a 20 percent increase on an annual basis. It also recorded an increase of 9 percent in the handling of fluid and gas. The company said that the spectacular performance in various cargo segments has established Adani Ports as a leading port globally.

Apart from this, Mundra Port also achieved many big achievements in January. The company said, “The record -breaking performance in various cargo segments has underlined Adani Port as a leading global port and the engine of India’s economy.”

APSED Mundra set a monthly record of 17.20 million metric tonnes of cargo, which is the highest ever by any Indian port in the history of marine trade. The earlier record was 17.11 million metric tons, which Mundra Port herself crossed.

Mundra Port also set a new national record in container cargo handling. It took over 7.72 lakh Twenty-Foot Equiplant (TEU) container in a month, which is more than the earlier records. According to the company, this achievement shows the important role of Adani Ports in the global supply chain.

Mundra Port’s Marine team handled 415 ships, which exceeds the records of the previous 406 ships. Talking about the movement of ships, 884 movement was recorded this time, while the previous record was 876.

The railway division also performed brilliantly. It handled 1.47 lakh TEU containers in a month, which is more than the record of 1.44 lakh TEUs earlier. The railway team handled 682 trains and set a new record, while earlier this number was 662. In addition, 447 double stack trains were operated, which crossed the record of the last 429 trains.

Adaani International Container Terminal Private Limited (AICTPL) also set a new record by handling 3.05 lakh TEU containers in a month. This is the highest handling ever by any Indian container terminal. The record before this was 3.02 lakh TEU.

In liquid cargo handling too, Mundra Port achieved the highest monthly throwup of 0.841 million tonnes, more than a record of 0.832 million tonnes. A new record was also made in LPG handling, where 1.01 lakh metric tons of LPG were sent in a month.
