While presenting the budget 2025-26, the Finance Minister said that a scheme will be implemented for the socio-economic upliftment of urban workers. He said, “The ‘Gig’ workers ‘new age’ of the online forum gives great mobility to the service economy. Honoring their contribution, our government will arrange their identity cards and registration on the e -ram portal.
Health care facilities will be provided
Sitharaman said that such workers will be provided health care facilities under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and this measure is likely to get assistance to about one crore workers. The government will also provide the facility of setting up ‘daycare’ cancer centers in all district hospitals in the next three years.
