After America and China, India becomes the third country with the largest metro rail network.

The metro rail network is expanding rapidly in India. Now the total length of metro rail network in the country has increased to 1000 km. With this large network, India has now become the country with the third largest metro rail network in the world after China and America.

Metro was started in Delhi in 2002

Delhi started its metro journey in 2002, when former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave the first metro to the people of Delhi and today Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving the gift of new metro projects and Namo Bharat to the people of Delhi. Its transformation and expansion under the leadership of PM Modi has been unprecedented, especially since 2014.

Metro network has increased three times in the last decade

The metro network has increased three times in the last decade. The metro network has increased from only 248 kilometers in 2014 to 1000 kilometers now. Today there is metro rail network in 23 cities of 11 states. In 2014 it was in only 5 states and 5 cities. Today, more than one crore people travel in the metro every day, which is a 2.5 times increase compared to 28 lakh passengers in 2014.

Today metro travels 2.75 lakh kilometers daily

At the same time, metro trains today travel a total of 2.75 lakh kilometers per day, which is three times the 86 thousand kilometers per day a decade ago. Under the vision of Prime Minister Modi, the Central Government is committed to provide seamless, affordable and modern urban transport to enhance travel convenience and quality of life for millions of citizens.

Today PM Modi will travel by train from Sahibabad RRTC station to New Ashok Nagar RRTC station.

As part of these transformative efforts, PM Modi is scheduled to travel by NaMo Bharat train from Sahibabad RRTS station to New Ashok Nagar RRTS station on Sunday. This visit of PM Modi will mark the inauguration of the 13 km long section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 4,600 crore, this corridor will significantly enhance regional connectivity between Delhi and Meerut, providing high-speed and comfortable travel options to millions of people.

Will also inaugurate Delhi Metro Phase 4 between Janakpuri and Krishna Park

Apart from the NaMo Bharat Corridor, PM Modi will inaugurate the 2.8 km long section of Delhi Metro Phase-4 between Janakpuri and Krishna Park. With an investment of Rs 1,200 crore, it is the first operational section of Delhi Metro Phase-4. Residents of West Delhi including Krishna Park, Vikaspuri and parts of Janakpuri will benefit from this.

Will lay the foundation stone of Rithala-Kundli section

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the 26.5 km long Rithala-Kundli section of Delhi Metro Phase-4. This new corridor, with an estimated cost of Rs 6,230 crore, will connect Rithala in Delhi to Nathupur (Kundli) in Haryana. It aims to boost connectivity in North-West Delhi and Haryana, which will have a positive impact on key areas like Rohini, Bawana, Narela and Kundli.
