The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), under the Quality Council of India, on Tuesday signed an MoU with the Research Society to enhance the quality of diabetes care and research in India. . This agreement will help in providing better health services to diabetes patients.
The Research Society for the Study of Diabetes (RSSDI) is India’s largest professional body representing caregivers of more than 12,000 diabetes patients across the country. Under this agreement, NABH will run national quality certification and accreditation programs and utilize RSSDI’s expertise in developing best-in-class clinical guidelines for diabetes management and research.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that amid the increasing cases of diabetes in the country, the MoU urges to promote research on high blood sugar conditions through strong clinical and digital health standards.
Rizwan Koita, President, NABH said, “Diabetes affects more than 250 million people across India, and it is important for the healthcare ecosystem to better manage diabetes. NABH aims to provide standardized care and evidence-based approach for diabetes management. Can play an important role in taking the guidelines forward.
Koita also mentioned the implementation of digital health standards for clinics, which will enable both doctors and patients to use the latest technologies.
Additionally, the ministry said the partnership will ensure that accredited diabetes clinics will maintain high standards for diabetes treatment, including education, research and guideline-directed care programs.
These clinics will incorporate modern technology and personalized care delivered by trained teams. This ensures that patients can meet their set goals. The ministry said that NABH and RSSDI will work towards enhancing the accreditation standards of NABH for allopathic clinics for the specific needs of diabetes care.
On the other hand, the ministry said that RSSDI will actively promote certification to NABH’s allopathic clinic accreditation standards among its member base.
