Miscreants set fire to BJP MLA’s house

Officials said angry mobs set fire to the houses of three more BJP MLAs and one Congress MLA in various districts of Imphal Valley in Manipur. He said the protesters also tried to storm the ancestral residence of state Chief Minister N Biren Singh. However, the police stopped them.

Violent protest in Imphal on Saturday

Protesters turned violent in different parts of Imphal Valley on Saturday after bodies of three women and three children were found in Jiribam district. After this, curfew was imposed here indefinitely. The angry mob had also attacked the residences of three state ministers and six MLAs on Saturday.

According to officials, the protesters set fire to the houses of Public Works Minister Govinddas Konthoujam in Ningthoukhong, BJP MLA from Hyanglam Y Radheshyam in Langmeidong Bazaar, BJP MLA Paonam Brojen from Wangjing Tentha in Thoubal district and Congress MLA Lokeshwar from Khundrakpam in Imphal East district. .

The house property was also vandalized

Police officials said that the angry mob attacked the residential complexes of the MLAs. Vandalized property and set fire to houses. However, during this time the MLA and his family members were not present at home.

Instructions to security forces to take necessary steps

The Union Home Ministry on Saturday said all security forces deployed in Manipur have been directed to take necessary steps to restore order and peace in the state, where the situation has remained critical for the past few days.

More than 200 people have died so far in the violence

In view of the critical situation, the Center on Thursday re-imposed the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in six police station areas of the state, including violence-hit Jiribam. More than 200 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between the Meiteis, who live in the Imphal Valley, and the Kuki-Jo community, who live in the nearby hills.
