Tamil Nadu Mahila Morcha President Umrathi Rajan, BJP MLA Dr C Saraswati, Khushboo Sundar and several women members were detained.
Today BJP took out Nyay Yatra from Madurai to Chennai regarding the rape case of engineering student in Anna University, Chennai. But the police stopped the rally in Chennai and detained the members of the state BJP Mahila Morcha.
BJP women leaders said that they were taking out the rally peacefully demanding justice for the victim. But the police detained them and also put many women leaders under house arrest.
BJP state president Annamalai uploaded photos of women leaders under house arrest on X. He said that under the DMK rule in Tamil Nadu, history-sheeters and rapists are roaming freely but BJP leaders demanding justice are being harassed.
He wrote- DMK government is using all its strength to make us bow before its tyranny. But BJP workers will rise from the ashes of oppression and fight for the people of Tamil Nadu. BJP’s national organization general secretary B.L. Santosh criticized the DMK government.

what is the whole matter A second year engineering student was raped at Anna University at 8 pm on 23 December. Raj Bhavan and IIT Madras are located near the university campus, which falls in the high-security zone. The police examined the CCTV footage installed on the campus and arrested the accused Gnanashekaran. He sets up a biryani shop near the university.
Anna University Rape Case- Comment on victim’s clothes in FIR
This case was heard in Madras High Court on 28 December. The vacation bench of Justice SM Subramaniam and Justice V Lakshminarayana heard two PILs. The court had said that it is written in the police FIR that the victim was wearing such clothes which could have led to the commission of the crime. Apart from this, other things have been written that the victim’s right to dignity and right to privacy have been violated.
The police need to be a little sensitive. The victim is a student and is only 19 years old. Is it not the duty of the SHO to assist the victim in registering the FIR. Such things have been written in the FIR that boys study secretly in hostels. Read the full news…
